I have been treating Lyme and co for 2 years. I have been doing much better, but not normal yet, over the past couple months with rifampin and doxy and then rifampin and mono. Big improvements. Anyways, then my stomach and esophagus gave out on me. Reflux and burning stomach. So, per llmd, I had to stop abx. This was 2 weeks ago. Still treating babs and just started bicillin yesterday. Within a days of being off abx, symptoms were out of control. Muscle pain and weakness, shoulder neck swelling, eye stuff, weird heel sensations...sounds like Bart. Can't go back on orals yet bc stomach is STILL not cooperating. Anyways, I just want to be DONE with this crap. Do you guys know I'd you can treat Bart and lyme together with IV? Has anyone done this with success?
Please help! Thanks so much! I was at about 75 percent before this setback. Does this mean I will go. Back to square one?

Why don't you continue Bicillin LA for Lyme and try oral Levaquin for Bartonella? Sounds like there are lots of things you have not tried yet before you jump to thoughts of IV.
Rifampin, doxy, and Mino were rough on my stomach too. So was Mepron though you didn't mention it, Malarone was a better option for me.
DGL is a great help for reflux, GERD, stomach burning, ulcer type symptoms. My favorite is exzymatic therapy brand chewables. They really work, take one 20min before eating. Helps to protect and heal the throat and stomach.

Hi- thanks so much flr your thoughts! I have been on Malarone for months, still on it. I had Iv already before. I have been on so many abx, as I have been treating 2 years. Levaquin caused tendon pain for me so I had to stop. I hated the nuisance of having an iv, but I honestly just don't care anymore at this point, I just want to be done and move on with my life. And, I feel like my gut is shot to *hit from all these orals. Also, I am going backwards as I sit here and wait for it to get. Itself in order. That is the most difficult of all since I was once again having a life and not being confined to the couch when I wasn't at work.

On a webinar I watched recently one issue that was discussed was relapses. The LLMD stated that you would relapse from lyme after several months, babesia and bart within 1-2wks I believe.
I can't remember which one came first bart or babs. This site has alot of infor. You can participate in webinars in which you can submit questions and receive answers as well as there is a ton of helpful articles to read through as well. http://www.treatlyme.net/Posts: 1748 | From United States | Registered: Dec 2011
