I've searched this site to see if there was any other similar topic, didn't find much.
Some background. Currently being treated for candida (diflucan BID 100mg each).
Seeing an LLMD and was told I have chronic lyme. Want me to start ABX after two weeks of treating the yeast. Current recommendation is 1 year of meds, not convinced I will move forward.
Sinus issue: for the past 2 years I have had a horrible post/nasal 'clog'. It is nearly impossible to get out and very irritating. I can really only get it out with a good sneeze to loosen things up. Comes out my nose or mouth. VERY sticky, about the size of a raisin or larger, green/yellow/brown/redish. Pretty gross odor too.
So - do i need to see an ENT, or does this sound more like yeast related?
Don't know what to think/do anymore...needing advice/answers.

To be on the safe side I would see and ENT. If you do have an infection it is possible the meds your LLMD will put you on might work on the sinus infection if you have one.
Let an ENT take a look...Yeah it could be yeast making its way out but you will not really know for sure.

Most sinus issues are fungal in nature. I used to be Sinus Infection Queen!!
While seeing an ENT is always a good idea, please remember that not all will be up on fungal issues.
I know mine wasn't (nor was my Allergist). It took and LLMD to figure out my sinus issues were fungal, and I was put on Diflucan for a couple months continuous.
After just 1 month I returned to the ENT who was blown away by the improvement (they had previously been pressing for scraping surgery).
Suffice to say, my 'chronic sinusitis' was cured and I was released from care by both the ENT and Allergist shortly thereafter.
I would also suggest you look into Xlear - it's saline mixed with Xylitol, which prevents bacteria and fungi from sticking to your sinus cavity. And please please check your immediate surroundings for mold.

So I've been reading about this condition known as 'fungus ball' and it seems very similar to what I am experience - they say you need to have it surgically removed in order to clear up the infection, which would require me to see an ENT.
Does anyone know if there is any risk of not having the fungus removed (assuming that is my problem). Does it spread and infect other systems/organs?

To treat fungus in the sinus area, do nasal irrigation with a drop of Grapefruitseed Extract in the water.
The GSE will kill any fungus. This is per the homeopath recommended by my lyme doctor. She recommends everyone do it for their entire life.
I know that years ago we had a "sick building" at work. Many employees were found to have "fungus balls" in their throats and sinuses. They were growths that had to be cut out. The fungus (mold?) in that building was causing various respiratory and sinus illnesses.
That's all I know. Why not try the GSE and nasal irrigation twice per day to see if that helps or even cures you. You buy the squeeze bottle and saline packets as a kit at any pharmacy. Use distilled water (not tap water). Warm it for about 20-22 seconds in the microwave to help loosen whatever is up there.
Squirting the saline with GSE in your nose twice per day should clean out whatever is in there. Hope it helps. Won't cost you hardly anything to try.

Definitely begin nasal irrigation. Be sure to dilute the GSE if you use that.
I found using a bulb syringe worked far better than a neti pot.
Be sure to clean it each time!

Instead of trying to make your own GSE nasal spray, just buy a bottle premixed for this purpose online or at health food store.
I used to get stubborn sinus infections regularly. My ND recommended that I take 3 sprays each nostril, 3-4x per day during acute infections. Continue for one week after symptoms clear.
Then take 2 sprays twice daily to prevent new infections.
This works well for me!

Just to let you know, nasal irrigation is not the same as using a nasal spray.
When you use the nasal irrigation bottle, you are forcing about 6 ounces of water up one nostril and out the other. Warm salt water with GSE in it can loosen what is in there. That's what you want to do. You will likely be amazed at what you will flush out.
If you are continually squirting a lot of warm water up one nostril and out the other, these large balls will not be able to form. They will be flushed out as the sinus drainage begins to cling to the nasal passages and before it hardens and accumulates. That is your goal.

Do any of you have recommendations on where to get the GSE - are there different kinds/strengths, etc?
I looked on amazon and found some but didn't know if that was sufficient.

I use to do the nasal rinsing with a few drops of GSE. I think it helped but it would irritate the lining of my nose. If that happens try adding some baking soda in the mix.
I also use Colloidal Silver Nasal Spray at the first sign of a sinus issue.

I just went to my local health food store and bought the cheapest grapefruit seed extract that they had.
Don't use more than ONE drop in the nasal irrigation bottle. It is strong. You don't want to burn the lining of the nose.
The GSE I got is 67% glycerine and 33% GSE.
If you buy an irrigation bottle kit, it comes with the premeasured saline packets. These packets are mostly salt with a small amount of baking soda. You can either buy the packets or make your own saline mix up once you are more familiar with it.
You must always use the salt with baking soda when you irrigate your nostrils. Plain water will burn you!

TammyN was seeing Dr. K and we got this recipe from her... A neti-pot and this recipe to get rid of sinus problems for my whole family: 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 teaspoon xylitol in warm sterile water

I have a neti pot which I use occasionally with distilled water the saline packets that came with it.
I don't have extremely bad sinus symptoms, my major complaint is the stubborn clog in my nasal/throat cavity. The past couple days I have also felt fluid in/inbetween my ears. Very annoying.
I consider it a 'bad' sinus infection when I can't smell or taste (had that several times last winter, loss of senses went on for about a week or more).
