My skin hurts and itches so badly. Is this normal? I'm on Doxy and Ceflan (I forget the correct spelling of Ceflan/Ceflax) and it is driving me nuts along with the muscle twitching. My skin feels like it's over dry or burnt. It itches constantly. What will soothe my skin? My pelvic area is also raw and almost feels blistered. I think I'm going nuts!
I am also getting the blurry vision from Doxy. Is there anything I can do to relieve that problem?

I just had this for the first time yesterday when I got out of the shower. I have been at this Lyme and coinfection thing for over 2 years. I don't know if it is a symptom or if it's some kind of skin condition. I used coconut oil on it and it took the burning away. I will probably continue to use it instead of lotions because of all of the chemicals that are in them. I just put a very thin layer because I think it would stain clothing.

You must be miserable. I know doxy works in the skin (why it makes you sun sensitive and used. For acne) but I don't know if it is a herx or a bad reaction.
I get lots of rashes and the best relief I get is using gold bond powder... It's cooling.it stings a little at first but takes the itch away.
My last rash -I was so deperate I tried boiron homeopathic urtica urens as directed on th package... It was a last ditch effort... But I have nev had a rash retreat so quickly. Normally they hang around for a month going from place to place... It was gone in weekend.
Also, the preescription antihistamine periactin has been the only drug to Take an edge of the itching.
Good luck boxer. I hope it goes away soon.

hi there boxer my friend! how long have you been treating? sensitive skin was one of my sons main sx. it went away with tx. i have had some problems with raw pelvic stuff too..also feeling like there are papercuts there. esp when i was riding horses. i didnt realize it could be a lyme thing. i thought it was an old lady thing. i buy the over the counter anti fungal cream...starts with chlor....also there is a product by vaseline in a tube -it is a white cream and very very smooth and easy to spread...that helps too. that is really bad pain...but i really never thougt it was from lyme. hmmm. learn something new everyday.

Thanks everyone. lpkayak - I'm not sure it's from Lyme, I'm just thinking it could be because it was one of the symptoms I was having for a while and none of my doctors could figure it out, then suddenly I was diagnosed with Lyme. I was diag in July 2012, started doxy in August, and have been on doxy ever since, with a few breaks. I recently had to come off of it because I was having lower back pain- probably from constipation. Ever since that has been resolved the back pain is better. My skin feels wind burned. My pelvic area gets worse around my period, so my gyn was thinking it could be a reaction to high levels of Progesterone. He was about to treat me by giving me a shot that shuts down all hormones, and then adding in Estrogen and testosterone to see if it helps, but with all the meds I'm on now I didn't want to do it yet. I was hoping to get through the LD treatment and then start that treatment if the LD treatment didn't clear it up. I can tell you that since I've been on the higher dose of Doxy the skin problem improved for one month, but then my doc lowered doxy to 2/day and the pelvic skin problem came back. I don't really know if it's related to Lyme, but I am miserable. It burns and even hurts to walk at times. I'll see if I can find that vaseline. Sounds like it could help. TY!!
