I'm interested in trying dry brushing for detox.

I'm curious - does it help?

What kind of brush should I use? This is completely new to me.

thanks!

There are even brushes made for skin brushing now.

I would recommend to just google it and watch some videos and read more about it.

I have two brushes and like having both to use, especially on my legs. You brush inwards towards your heart.

Thanks! I didn't realize there is a prescribed system to doing it. Just ordered a brush on Amazon.

Would still love to hear if people think it's helped?

A Russian co-worker does this, but gets her brushes from the dollar store.
She is 50 and looks in her early 30s....

I just bought a brush made by Earth Therapeutics from Bed Bath and Beyond for about $8. The same brushes were available on Amazon but you had to buy a pack of 3.

I use Earth Therapeutics. I always dry brush before showering and before going into my IR Sauna.

My sweat rate in the sauna increases when I dry brush first.

Always brush towards the heart.

The brushing has to be extremely gentle. The lymphatics lie very close to the skin. The stroking with a gentle hand is as effective. Take a look at a drawing of the lymphatic system. It is definitely not a massage. Light tapping with the finger tips in the different areas will do a lot.

Google lymphatic drainage and familiarize yourself with that part of the body. It is a very sensitive area.

I am also being very gentle with the copper brush aka Monastery Brush with hairlike fine copper bristles creating small ions, with excellent effects. Easy does it - barely touching.

I just use a dry folded up washcloth.

Natural bristle brushes are good. You can even get these at Target very inexpensively. It is good to brush in a circular motion towards the heart. I start at the bottom and work up.

I do this fairly frequently before taking a bath or shower, but I have not noticed any obvious benefits. I definitely benefit from using a steam-room.
