I was surprised to run across them at Menards when they had a going out of business sale a few years ago so I got them really cheap but don't remember the price.

Not sure how they'd compare to the ones he was talking about.

I bought just one test petri kit for just one room in my house that I suspected for mold, sent it in and the results came back ok.

I think I remember they found something innocuous, not mold.

I would also like to purchase those mold plates and test a few spots in my home. Praying that mold is not a problem for me - as it really sounds like a nightmare to fix.

In a previous thread, the following was mentioned

I belong to several mold support groups... one with several toxicologists, microbiologists and a mold specialist, MD & Phd... the petri dishes are the most UNreliable mold testing that exists.

Tape lifts are alright if you can SEE mold. The mold that was causing us to be sick was hidden behind the walls. Even that gets into the air and what is in the air settles into dust.

We used the ERMI which samples dust. I would use EMSL labs... http://www.emsl.com

There is a chart here that helps to read the ERMI and determine if the molds you find are dangerous:

May health be with you!

Toxic mold was suppressing our immune systems, causing extreme pain, brain fog and magnifying symptoms. Four days after moving out, the healing began.
