My kidney and liver numbers are high. I just had blood work, ultrasound and x-ray.

I am waiting for results.

My DO wants me to start Mepron next and I wonder how hard it is on the Kidneys and Liver.

Anyone have experience with this?

Waiting to start Mepron until I get test results.

Hi cozynana,
I have been on mepron,750x2, since July 26.
I just had my blood work done, which shows low wbc and high rdw. My iron saturation is low(10%0, and my ferritin levels are 3093.

It sure makes me scared being on these abx for so long. But what choice do we have.

Any abx can raise your liver enzymes. You should be taking alpha lipoic acid, milk thistle as supplements. There are other detox supplements but I find these two help me out the most.

Low white count is a side effect of some coinfections.

But mepron isn't an abx. It's an antimalarial I thought. So not sure if it goes through the liver or kidneys.

What is lipoic acid and what does it do? I cannot take milk thistle for some reason,

makes me very sick. I have tried it multiple times thinking each time it might work.
