I was talking to my nephew who was asking me about my Lyme journey.

He showed me 2 places that he had found ticks on himself and pulled them off. That was a year ago.

He keeps getting a bite mark that looks like a pimple at both places. He says they come and go but always itch like crazy.

He does not get a rash, just the bump.

I have no experience with the bite stuff as I never remember getting bit.

I told him to get checked after what I have been thru, but he is young and resistive as LLMD's can be costly.

Any one have similar issues? I am looking for ammo to forc e him to go. Thanks.

Perhaps you could try to reach out to your local support group and see if there is a LLMD or LLNP who accepts insurance. I know there are a few in my area that I have referred people to in the past who were concerned about having to pay out of pocket.

It is good that you are encouraging him to get it checked. Sounds suspicious to me...

I have a friend who has an old tick bite spot that itched him for years and was a bump.

My guess is that perhaps a piece of the tick's mouthparts are left under the skin (they are like fishing barbs, and so can be difficult for you and the tick to pull out), thus causing this irritation. So, it could be something like having a splinter in there. It could take years for the body to dissolve that tiny tick mouthpart and then the itching and bump would eventually go away.

The friend who had this has never had lyme and is healthy. So, to me, this is not enough to go to see a lyme doctor. I tell folks to go to a lyme doctor when they have lyme symptoms.

Not all ticks carry lyme. So, if he hasn't gotten any lyme symptoms from those old tick bites, then he doesn't need a lyme doc. If he wants to ask his regular doc to cut out what is in there, perhaps that would stop the problem.

I had the same thing happen to me in '05 (already had lyme & co) from an embedded Lone Star nymph. Went on for 6 mths. and it was on an obvisious cycle.

Turn back into tick bite. Red bump and itch, start to clear and then completely disappear, only to become a tick bite again every 4 weeks.

At the time I was seeing a voodoo muscle testing chiro type doctor and I finally told him about it. He did some work with some type of vial of bacteria and worked on me....it disappeared and never returned.

To this day I have periods of itching in that extra spot and I still check to see if it's active again. Nothing but a severe itch under the skin????

Within a couple months of these bites I had really bad symptoms involving GI track and some very severe bartonella sx that set me back.

I have seen some others posts about these bites that come and go over the years.

Pam
