Oh boy, I just got back my monthly lab report and my white blood cells are down to 4.0 (the normal range is 3.9 - 8.3.

I am on zithromax and rifampin. Do others here have low white blood cells? I am worried. Should I be?

I know there are some antibiotics that can cause low white blood cells. Your count is still in range but at the low end....is your dr. worried at all about it? I know there are several here that had a low wbc and took something to help..just don't remember what it is

btw...my wbc is 2.8 and my dr is only concerned

about the neutrophil count.

I dont' think you have anything to worry about at this point since it is not super low....how is the rest of your cbc? lymphocytes? neutrophils?

See my post here on how to raise it:

If they get lower, I believe your doc will do something about it like what my doc did.

Right now, you are normal. No need to worry.

TF, remind me again, how low did yours get?

Sorry to hijack this post but does anyone know if a low monocyte count is caused by ehrlichiosis??

I don't remember. My guess is it was a few (2-3) tenths of a point below the normal range when the doc ordered the Transfer Factor.

This was over 8 years ago. That's how long I have been well.
