We think my 8 year old son is dealing with PANS (formerly PANDAS) but also has parasites. His violent, mean talk (tourettes) is so much worse when he is on parasite treatment. He started Caprasite (herbal deworming supplement) today and is unmanageable. Totally emotional, can't sit still or focus on anything except videogames, screaming and saying terrible, mean and violent things.

Has anyone experienced this or seen their child act like this with parasite treatment?

Thanks,
tickbattler

Hi TIck battler.

My 12 year old didn't have rages but he did have extreme anxiety on parasite herbs. Almost psychosis level.

We upped his binders and lowered the dose of the herbs for a couple of days, and the anxiety level did come down some, but not enough and I took him off the herbs. I do think that the herbs were a good idea and I think we did some good bug removal, but we had to stop to get him stable again.

Now we are trying diatomaceous earth and he is tolerating that much better. I don't think it is as systemic as herbs, but I think it does do a great job on intestinal parasites.

My running theory right now is to go with the DE for another week in the hopes that having a cleaner gut will help him when we try either herbs or salt/c.

I'm going to start on a TINY dose of whatever we try next.

Sorry to hear that your son is having a hard time. Many healing thoughts to you.

Thanks canadianmama,
How much d.e. do you give and how do you give it? Do you mix it in apple sauce? I have some but haven't tried it yet. Did he herx at all on that?
Thanks so much,
tickbattler

We started on 1/2 teaspoon once a day mixed with one oz of juice. Stir really well. We found that thick juice like mango or banana blends work best, but anything will do.

I also make DE "fudge" and both my kids will gobble it.

He's been on it for 1 month and now we were up to 2 to 3 teaspoons a day. -It depends on how much fudge he eats!

He didn't herx on it at all.

Just to chime in here, the rages even happened to me as an adult when I started attacking parasites. I consider myself a lady, but when I would take the herbs and salt/c and herxing like mad, I would start cursing like a crazy person with every foul word you can think of.

Even tho I was aware of it, I couldn't stop. Getting rid of parasites is a step by step process, so chipping away at them a little at a time is in the right direction.

Feel so bad for the children that have to go through this. Hopefully, with persistence it will resolve.

Gael

Thanks for all of the responses. I'm hoping that his tourettes is from the parasites and can be healed. It started about 3 months ago when he became sick with cytomegalovirus (CMV) and mono symptoms. He is still dizzy and fatigued and nauseous all of the time. I may have to pull him out of school because he misses 2 to 3 days/week.

Gael - it helps to hear your story - so you had tourettes type OCD behavior as well? How long did it last? Can you link it to the parasites (e.g., did it happen when you added the anti-parasite herbs or did it happen when on salt/C, which could have been hitting other things too)?

Has anyone heard of tourettes as a symptom of parasites? In the past, he has been very emtional when we did parasite treatment but the tourettes is new since last fall, and it started when he was not on parasite treatment.

Thanks so much everyone!

tick battler,

I reslly believe that a MAJOR part of this disease is due to parasites. It only happened when I went after parasites with both the herbs and salt/c and was herxing. It lasted several yrs into tx, but only when I was herxing. Completely resolved as I got better.

On the Parasite Warriors thread, there was a discussion of how the parasites seem to have an effect on emotions.

I did have some OCD and mania and mild rage through the yrs before antiparasitics. The tourettes could have been triggered in your son when you started antiparasitics.

If he can tolerate even the smallest dose of antiparasitics and or salt/c, it would be a start getting rid of these pathogens.

For me, the combo of herbs and salt/c hit all of the infections. I so hope your soon gets well soon from this disease.

I saw an episode of one of the judge shows on tv. It was the judge I used to see as a consultant on the Today Show I believe.

There was a young man on there who had been wronged by someone and took them to court.

He explained that he had been a loner through his childhood and teen years due to having Tourette's. He spent most of his time with his horses and studying.

She said to him that she hadn't noticed any signs of Tourette's in him and was genuinely interested.

He explained how he researched and came across information about parasites. He took an anti-parasitic called Parasitin and no more Tourette's.

Gael - thanks for the additional info. Sounds very similar to my son. His bad behavior and tourettes started when he was not on any parasite meds and has become gradually worse over the past 4 months. He has been on salt C for about a month with some other things and we only recently started more parasite treatment. He has had it in the past over the years but we can't get rid of the ascaris!!! We need to stick with it much longer I know.

Thanks Pocono for the story - I love reading that....gives me hope that my son can be healed with parasite treatment.

Gigi - thanks for the video - have watched some but need more time to watch the rest. Your links are always helpful!
