Good Morning!

I am filling out all of the paperwork for my first LLMD doctors appointment in April. There are tons of medical questions.

On one of the forms I have to fill out my temperature every so many hours a day for six days.

I have noticed that I am never at 98.6. I hover between 97.0 and 97.6, mostly 97.6.

I have heard some people's temp may be normal at a lower temp. Seems like mine is quite low all the time.

I have looked on site and cannot find anything much on normal low body temp.

Is there any relation between low body temp and Lyme?

Here's an article on low body temperature and fibromyalgia. It's really an article on low body temp and chronic illness, but fibro is in the title. http://www.hansacenter.com/pdfs/Fibromyalgia_and_Low_Body_Temperature01-10-2010.pdf

Bad bacteria grow more readily in a low body temperature environment.

That sounds so serious. I just read it. All of this sounds so serious. That could be interpreted as yet another Lyme symptom.

Geez!!!!

Thank you sixgoofykids!

Check out Wilson's temperature syndrome... just google it. Wilson believes that stress impairs the thyroid and adrenal balance resulting in low body temps and less than optimal function.

ever since i got sick, my temp has never, ever been normal.

when i got the flu, tho, it went to 103.5 and i really thought i was going to die.

but when i got over it, bam, down to 97 again.

it's normal when you have lyme.

My nurse comes every wednesday, my temp has never been above 95.5. It's very typical.

Since getting sick, I always run around 97.3. Until then I was always 98.6.

I think it's very common with Lyme patients.

This is common with Lyme patients. My doctor calls it "low metabolism" which is what I think Wilson also calls it. Basically it is an improved environment for the bacteria to thrive in.

There are ways to treat this which may help you feel better and function better until the lyme is under control, so don't worry too much. Your doctor will address this.

Among other things, I take some thyroid supplement and an adrenal supplement which are intended to get things working better (in the long run may not need these). I'm sure your doctor has a protocol for this.

I think I have this.
Lyme does something that affects the HPA axis and the hormones.

When someone has a thyroid problem, the first thing I think now of is Lyme.
Back when I was a nurse, some people used to tell me that their normal temperature was very low, a degree or more below 98.6.

I didn't know what to make of it, as I had never seen anything about it.
The physicians didn't think it was significant.

Now I know that Rhodiola can help to balance the HPA axis and improve some symptoms.
Coconut oil can help the thyroid function to improve, increasing metabolism and bringing your temperature up.

When I took coconut cream concentrate daily for two months, I lost ten pounds without doing anything else.

Took me a long time to get back to 'normal' 98.6...when i was on high doses of antibiotics my temp ranged from 95.5 to 97

Still treating but treating my body as a whole and taking care of many things along with lyme and co...not using antibiotics

I think my body temp went back to normal after a few months of cleaning up my system..my main sympton of brain fog still persists but at least im out and about a bit more...anything in the right direction
