I had been feeling pretty darn good, until I started PT two weeks ago for a surgery I had in January. I had an appointment with my surgeon yesterday and he said he wanted me to go to PT less times a week but go longer.
I was thinking that I was glad that I didn't have to go so much because I have been feeling so crappy lately (I was laid out yesterday) I haven't been laid out for quite a long time.
Then I had a lightbulb moment, MOLD! I cancelled my appt. for today, I've been taking CSM and I'm feeling a lot better.
I called over there to tell them that I can't do my PT there because the building is making me sick, and that I think they have mold. They said that they were flooded over a weekend in November, and they weren't surprised.
I have the genes that don't detox mold or Lyme well. We did major renovations last winter on our house to make it healthy for me.
I felt like the Lyme was back full force, I knew it couldn't be because I had a relapse, and have been treating it for some time now. I am actually treating all of the infections right now.
Just thought I should share this.

Thanks for that. I have a nagging feeling that mold might be an issue for us. We've resolved where we had water damage in our house but I can't help to think there is something lurking somewhere else. Might be paranoia, but might not.

Yeah. We had something spill down behind a shelving unit in our kitchen, that caused mold to grow on the trim and on the floor under the shelves.
We could not see the mold. But after a while, I started to smell it and it took us over a year to find out where the mold was.
As soon as my DH got rid of the trim and thoroughly cleaned up the mold on the floor, washed the wall behind and above the trim, and put in new trim, no more mold smell.
And no more nausea, and I have been able to reduce my allergy medication significantly. And my DH's Asthma improved.
I also think I am making some progress on Lyme treatment now, that I was not making before the mold got removed.
So yes, absolutely seek out any mold in your house or workplace, and get rid of it!

"Don't underestimate MOLD" I completely agree!
Never realized the importance of it until last year. Then finally had genetic testing done that shows I have a problem processing the toxins that mold produces. Such an important piece of the puzzle for so many of us.

Here we go again...went to the "new" PT place and the therapist asked why I left the other place.
Look, he says, while pointing to a ceiling that is practically falling in from water damage. He tells me this building has a ton of leaks. Ugh. I almost started crying.
He found a new place for me, brand new building. I go there next week.
I had to leave my job, can't go to my favorite place to exercise, can't go to the mall. All these places make me sick. I'm turning into a real shut in here mold sucks.

I had 10 years of chronic mold (some black mold) exposure in my home. I THINK we got rid of all of it but it certainly has/had alot to do with my declining health over the past 10 years.
It (along with TBI) has left me with MCS and an inability to be around any sort of mold....
Treating to get rid of it in my body...

Have any of you noticed that your mold exposure & illness increases from Spring time to early Fall?
In other words your health gets worst during that time frame & then mysteriously wears off in the fall.
I had that experience for two years in a row, but it could have been coincidental and in conjunction with ABX/treatment change.
I am waiting until March/April to see if I get hit for the 3rd time with the existing ABX. If it happens this time again, then I know it is most likely the mold.
I have a moldy/dusty unfinished basement & I see black mold growing in the bathroom. GOD only knows what grows behind the walls.

Lymedin2010,
If you have black mold growing in your bathroom, you absolutely need to get rid of it!!! This will prevent you from getting better, and is greately adding to your toxic load.
Bleach won't clean it. I know there are other experts here on what will work for cleaning and I hope they reply. But you can search for other threads on this here, too.

Our LLMD in PA was adamant about us remediating the mold in our basement and said that it could be the linchpin for my entire family being ill (we all have TBIs as well).
We used May Dooley in PA who is a certified microbial consultant. mold-control-on-a-budget.com.
Great advice and recommendations like using borax solution to kill mold (way better and less toxic than bleach) as well as benign mold-killer Caliwel that can be used to kill and encapsulate mold on unfinished wood in basements.
I am hoping that once we are done with our remediation that we might see an improvement in our overall health.
In the meantime, we've got hepa filters running and we are taking bio-challenge bind to remove the toxins from our bodies.
