Three UM Scientists Develop Innovative Method to Deliver THC
Transmucosal patch increases drug's absorption

I don't understand this... Some people are in prison while others are making it into a drug...? Does the hypocracy ever end?

I think this plant could be helping people with Lyme & other ailments.

Um, you'll notice this product is a pharmaceutical delivery system (a patch).

If there's money to be made in this issue, you can bet your sweet bippy that the drug companies will try to grab the lion's share of it.

Yeah, I see this... If they are developing the oral, through the gums, delivery system - why didn't they choose some other substance? Why THC? That seems really bizarre to me - it's supposedly illegal as far as the Federal gov't is concerned.

I don't think it's legal in Mississippi where this study is being done. The same goes for synthetic cannabis... It was created at a university in South Carolina - marijuana is certainly not legal there.

Now they are trying to outlaw it all over the place.

I'm not into drugs like marijuana but I read that the juice of the raw plant is helping people who are ill. I would like to try it but - guess what? - it's illegal. You don't get high from the raw plant...

So - if the NIH is funding studies using THC & universities are creating synthetic cannibis - why is it still illegal? I thought it was illegal because it had no medicinal value - supposedly.

A few months ago there was a pretty big pot bust in a town near by - $10,000 or so woth of pot, I think. All involved had to get lawyers, go to court, jail, pay fines & court fees, I suppose... It makes no sense. I read about it in the newspaper.

I have known people who have been through hell due to being busted with marijuana. It's so senseless.

As it happens, pot is not illegal in WA state where I live. And also as it happens, I am taking a 3-month gardening class. However, apparently there are different varieties of pot and I do not know which might be more applicable to lyme. With neuro lyme, I am really not interested in the stoner effects but wouldn't mind juicing the young raw stuff.

Any idea of what species of pot I might experiment on and where to get the seeds? I am not in the pot circuit. I'm obviously aware I can call around but would appreciate any info people might have from this forum.

fyi - http://berkeleypatientscare.com/2010/09/18/juicing-raw-cannabis-for-greater-health/

excerpt-

According to GW Pharmas cultivation FAQ their scientists in the UK can precisely control the cannabinoid composition of the plant and they have bred an extremely CBD high strain. Both Dr. Courtney and some of his patients tried to find a similar strain available here in Northern California but to no avail.

Recently, an emboldened lab, operating in the hope they can avoid DEA interference here in the Bay Area has begun testing plants for CBD, THC and pathogens like mold. Steep Hill Lab has found only one bankable strain, Soma A+ that contained significantly more CBD than any other strain tested.

-

Ive also been advised by a patient that is planning to grow medicine for fresh juicing, that a very CBD high strain was tested at Spannabis this year called Cannatonic and seeds may be available online.
