Hi,
Taking oral Ceftin -- man, that stuff is brutal! Any thoughts on what to eat; drink / not eat; drink (how much) to stack the cards in favour of my not throwing it up?
Best,

Have you tried taking it in the middle of a meal? I think it is really important to make sure you eat enough when you take the meds.

I took it right after a meal last night, and thought to myself as I was taking it, "Gee, I should drink more water", but didn't...not too sure that would have made a difference...

I take my ceftin and then eat a meal right after. I have a very sensitive stomach and I do okay taking my meds first then eating immediately after.

Milk. I've taken it with milk twice and not thrown in up. Fingers crossed...

I take my abx in the middle of my meals, but I like Faithful's idea too. I have to eat a big meal though or I get nausea.

I always took mine in the middle of my biggest meal of the day. That seemed to work for me.

I eat a pretzel rod just prior to taking abx. Seems to help usually.

I found nothing that helped but I didn't throw up right away so hoping I got some good out of Ceftin.
Clindamycin I had no trouble with, the best med without side effects I have taken.

With really bad nausea-inducing pills, I'd take them with a meal, plus also take an herbal supplement called NauseaEase by Vitanica. It's a mix of ginger, peppermint, lemon balm, etc. It's marketed toward women with morning sickness, but I find it works on any nausea.
I've found NauseaEase at Whole Foods, my local co-op, on Amazon.com, etc.
Also, if you or someone you know can immediately apply Reiki when nausea hits, it can be really helpful. (I know, Reiki sounds very "woo-woo," but it actually does help. I'm typically very skeptical, so I was astonished by how helpful Reiki could be when I was curled up with nausea, pain, etc.)

I'm with you Anna, reiki does help. I love it and acupuncture.
I was recently on a med that gave me nausea and ginger tea cut my nausea. You can also try ginger capsules.
