I am back. It's been a while. I have a new LLMD who would like me to start Mepron. She thinks my plateau is untreated babs. I am trying to get pregnant. The LLMD says Mepron is fine for pregnancy. My husband is worried because it is Category C.
Will you share you Mepron experience during pregnancy? Anything that convinced you that it is safe? Did you take it first trimeseter?
My husband, at a minimum, would like me to wait until the second trimester, if we get pregnant.
Waiting to get pregnant is not an option due to my age. Crippling Lyme took my best years for having kids. I have been in treatment for years, but my old LLMD never treated babs.
I had a healthy baby in October 2011 while in treatment and miscarriages in aug 2012 and december 2012.

As someone with Babesia and having asked my own doctor about taking Mepron while pregnant he replied it's about the benefits outweighing the risks. Ask about a alternate therapy which is IV Cleocin instead. I did that and it worked great.
It's important to consider your babs symptoms as well, for example mine are vertigo, anemia, night sweats and chills. Best of luck.

Many people find their symptoms diminish or go away completely when they're pregnant, so it may end up being a non-issue.
I, personally, wouldn't take Mepron while pregnant. It's so toxic I can't believe it is ok for a developing baby. I'd look into alternatives if your symptoms really require treatment during those months.
When considering herbal / nutritional / adjunct methods:
if at all possible - because each person & each case is different - it's best to consult with an ILADS-educated LL (lyme literate) doctor who has completed four years of post-graduate medical education in the field of herbal and nutritional medicine -
- and someone who is current with ILADS' research & presentations, past and present.
Many LL NDs incorporate antibiotics (depending upon the licensing laws in their state). Some LLMDs and LL NDs have good working relationships.
When possible, it's great to have both a LLMD and LL ND and even better when they have a long-standing professional relationship.
Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc. (Be aware that those in this category can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, perhaps even just a short course. Do ask first.)

You should contact the best LL Pediatrician, Dr. J, to ask about this. He has put together a protocol for pregnant women with Lyme which can be followed with your own doctor.
I don't know if the treatment is also for co-infections.

Doesn't seem like it is a popular choice although I have found several blogs of pregnant women on it.
