DS, has been treated for 2 1/2 years with oral meds. He has Bart/Lyme/Mycoplasma Pneu. He also has had IVIg and did much better while on that, but insurance is being horrible about that.

My question is, How do you know when it is time to try IV meds? His IQ is very high but his processing and memory are very low. He also has horrible fatigue that we are trying to help with mitochondrial cocktail.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would say if you haven't had significant improvement in 2 1/2 years, it is time for IV.

I did not improve on orals but only let that go 6 months before I turned to IV. I have been on IV a little over a year and am having slow steady improvement on Clindamycin plus some orals.

In Dr. Burrascano's guidelines he says that there are several reasons to try IV:

Stomach doesn't tolerate orals.
Previous steroid use.
NeuroLyme or neuroborreliosis
Known tick bite over a year ago without treatment.

I think there is another one but I can't think of it.
