I'm on 2gr of Rocephin for the next 3 months.
The doc that prescribes doesn't believe in Flagyl but I do. Can others who have been on this pair tell me the dosing protocol for the Flagyl.

I used to pulse it 1 week on, 2 weeks off but but my doc wasn't an LLMD so I'd like to hear what others have done while on IV. Also dosage.

thanks

dave

I'm taking Rocephin and Flagyl. I've had my PICC 8 months, and have been taking Flagyl for over a year.

Rocephin twice a day, four days/week. 2 grams each dose.

I originally started pulsing 500 mg Flagyl one week on, two weeks off while taking doxy and Cefdinir. I went through some rough cycles and started sinking fast so LLMD ordered PICC for Rocephin. She took me off doxy and Cefdinir, and added Malarone, Clarithromycin, Septra, and Plaquenil. She also had me start taking Flagyl every day.

On top of all that I take Milk Thistle, Actigall, multi-vitamins, Probiotics, fish oil....etc, etc.

Anyway.....as I started my eighth month of Rocephin she changed my meds a bit. I'm back to pulsing 500 mg Flagyl 1 week on, 2 weeks off. She took me off Malarone, Clarithromycin, and Plaquenil and replaced them with Rifampin.

It's been a very slow and arduous process but I'm much better now. Still working through some neurological issues but physically almost pain free. My LLMD hopes Rifampin will pick up where the Malarone/Clarithromycin left off.

I hope all that rambling helps. I did Flagyl daily, and pulsed it. I made my biggest improvements when taking it daily, but with all the chemicals being pumped into my body it's hard to say what fixed what.

Good luck.

When I was on IV Rocephin, I took TindaMax
pulsed two consecutive days per week.

Pulled PICC on April 1, but still on oral Tini, Bactrim, and Mini.

I worked up to be able to take it two weeks on and two weeks off. But I also took other orals.

I was on IV Rocephin for 7 months but really crashed from it at the 3-4 month mark, then we changed to IV Clindamycin and everything turned around for the better.
