Hi! I'm just starting IV rocephin treatments, but I've been warned that my doctor here in Canada will most likely only be able to prescribe 2 weeks worth of the rocephin.
So I am looking into ordering more from Infuserve in America. I called them this morning and they said they would ship the rocephin and supplies to Canada, or they could ship it to someone I know in the US and I could pick it up.
Obviously having them ship it to Canada would seem the most convenient. But I am concerned about customs. It could be much more expensive if I get charged with customs fees, and also I'm worried that they will get stuck at the border in customs and won't be refrigerated.
So I'm wondering if anyone in Canada here orders their meds from Infuserve and what their experiences have been with customs. Or if you just use a friend in the US?
Or is there another option you use?
Thanks!

Rocephin must be refrigerated as it isn't stable for long. I hope you find a way to get it from infuserve. They do have the best prices.

Your safest bet is to drive across the border and pick it up yourself. Unkess this has changed since I was getting meds from outside Canada, the law in Canada is such that you can bring whatever meds across the border on your person, but you cannot have them mailed to you. You can call Customs and they will tell you the rules.
When I did it, there was no tax / duty on prescription meds I was bringing across the border.
If it were a shipment that didn't require refrigeration, you could always have it sent via mail or courier, and take your chances. The worst that will happen is that the shipment is returned to sender.
Best,

Canadian Customs have started clamping down on people bringing meds across the border. I was doing that in december and the agent told me they had been briefed that health Canada wanted to discourage people from getting meds in the USA, and they should get treated in canada. I said I had Lyme, and that was not possible. She said that it was up to the discretion of the agent, and if it was her, she would not like to confiscate someones meds ( in case they were made sicker )... but that anther agent might not be so kind. She allowed me to keep my meds. Previous to this, I had never had any trouble getting 3 months worth across the border. If you are going to try, take a copy of the prescription with you.... they sometimes ask for that.
