labs results from Vitamin Diagnostics showed :

Glutathione(oxidised)
result-- .51 Range .16-50

Glutathione(reduced)
result-- 2.8 Range 3.8-5.5

NAC was suggested as a supplement. Is there any reason why some should not supplement with NAC?

I thought I read that if a person has anxiety then they should avoid NAC?

Thanks for any help.

I have massive anxiety and have low Glutathione in the cells.

I need all the Glutathione I can get.

I've been taking NAC for almost a year.

Maybe if you have a Sulfur allergy it's not a good idea?

I have been taking NAC for years, and my lab test for glutathione recently came back low. So, either I am not taking enough or it isn't converting or something. Now adding liposomal glutathione. Will see what that does.

Jane,

Do you take acetaminophen or ANY Rx or OTC product that contains it? Even a tiny bit can drop & block glutathione in the body.

Lyme, itself, can cause low glutathione, though.

NAC and other suggestions here. Basically, most good liver support can help, along with organic diet with lots of veggies, wild fish, meat from grass fed, free range animals, etc.

Topic: Glutathione, whats the deal

Pertinant information from Healing in Santa Cruz:

"Meyers cocktail Glutathione IV's 2 X a mo. It really helps.

And just started Allergy Research Acetyl Glutathione and its amazing for me. Very expensive though."

Some suggestion of certain ethnic groups and glutathione gene deletion. Which groups are predisposed? I've done some searches and haven't found the answer. Also, how much does it cost to have this gene(s) tested for and what labs are best?
Just wondering since I have asthma and a fatty liver. Taking NAC, R Lipoic Acid.

Thanks for the replies.

Keebler will study links, thanks for posting the links. No pain relievers taken for a few years.

Otter, DD's Dr. used Vitamin Diagnostics, not sure if that is a good lab or not.

Up for more replies.

OtterJ,

Two good points raised. About certain ethnic groups - it seems that everyone has certain things to look for. Some of that may have to do with the location of the country in the world, diet over centuries, genetic composition but it is is certainly something to consider.

About "fatty liver disease"

I think everyone with a chronic stealth infection such as lyme or other TBD has a fatty liver. It's just what happens with harsh &/or long term infection.

Certain nutrients, diet & herbs can really help, though. I think you see a LL ND and if it's who I think it is (Dr. R?) you would be in very good hands.

I wanted to take lyposomal glutathione, which is expansive. I decided to try the sublingual form first, since it's much cheaper. It turns out it has an effect on me, so I'm sticking with it.

The liposomal glutathione is wonderful though I find if I take it daily it loses its effectiveness. I am severely allegic to sulfa drugs so IV glut was out of the question plus I live 10 hrs from my LLMD! I think some supps lose their effectiveness over time.

I wonder which ethnic groups y'all are talking about?? My doc had me detoxing like mad and nothing has worked.. even the methylation supps..
