i have had this happen for the third time now and it scares me to death. all of a sudden i get this gosh awful pain between my breasts, like a massive cramp. i'm short of breath and can't breath.

i am having lots of burping and gas (at both ends!!). i start burping after i eat and it's not small ones. (the men would be soooo proud but it's embarrasing)

the pain is absolutely unbelievable. it makes my head just spin, it's that bad.

i have read about esophageal spasms and i think that's what it is.

could this be related to lyme also?? anybody ever hear of these. suppose to be more women than men who have this and, of course, it's also stress and axiety related.

treatment includes prilosec and anti-depressants.

it literally stops you dead in your tracks.

oh, my bp was 148 over 71.

I've dealt with those. It seemed to be worse when I was tacking prev-pack (3 combo antibiotic).

I've had them all my life, so I don't know if it's lyme or not. Stress and lack of sleep also makes it way worse.

DGL seems to help. Getting enough sleep and avoiding stess ALWAYS helps them lessen (unless I'm on particular antibiotics).

Licorice tincture (a few dropper fulls in water) will calm them immediately BUT it raises blood pressure unlike DGL. That's why I stopped the tincture. That was the fastest way I got it to calm down though.

Good luck, I know it's really scary when it comes on. The pressure is horrible.

I get those! VERY painful!! I thought mine was related to my Sjogren's. I have to be careful how I take my pills. I run into trouble if I don't go slowly between groups of pills.

I also make sure I don't drink really cold water.

I have had this problem for years. I didn't have Lyme when it started. I found that if take an antacid that helps me belch the pain goes away. It is very scary until you find what helps.

I don't have ANY belching with mine. For me, there is no relationship between the pain and stomach problems.

I sometimes have bile come up, that's how the doc figured out it was esophagus spasms.

The esophagus just start spasms the wrong direction and pushes stuff up instead of down.

In Chinese medicine they would probably say something like the Chi is moving the wrong way.

I agree on the warm water. Cold water (especially in the morning) can bring it on.

Yes, I get them. Very painful. Can be from Lyme, GERD, or a myriad of other things. A heating pad on the chest can help.
