Our doctor has prescribed Cipro for bartonella symptoms for 15 yr old daughter. I am always a bit nervous but excited when starting something new, but this one scares me because of tendonitis side effects.
We received a list of supplements to take with it to avoid bad side effects - it's a lot of additional supps: HCL, fiber, carnitine, Methylcobalamin B12, Magnesium, Vit D, Multivitamin, Omega 3, Tumeric/Ginger, digestive enzymes, melatonin, co Q10, ALA, milk thistle, vit C.
Does anyone have experience with Cipro? Did you add additional supps? A number of these she already takes, but this would add about 9 new ones. Of course, I want to protect her, but hate additional pills. Already taking so many pills and stomach issues have always been bad.
Your experiences would help.

When I was on Levaquin and Cipro, I took Epsom salt baths nightly-
body brushed beforehand, 3 full cups of salt, water as warm as I could, sit for 20 minutes.
I really believe it helped. Getting the magnesium into the muscles, and detox.

Not everyone has issues with Cipro. The stomach issues that people have seem to go with the beginning of treatment and get better with time.
Please make sure your daughter is taking adequate probiotics. 100 billion a day minimum.
You are already taking good supplements but if Babesia is in the picture, you need to drop the Co Q10 and milk thistle. One feeds the Babesia and the other interferes with the abx being used for it.
If pain is an issue MSM helps with the tumeric.

Ditto to what Faithful said. Cipro tends not to cause the tendonitis issues that Levaquin does.
Hope you find that it is very helpful to your daughter!

I felt floxed from both cipro and levaquin. Will not go near the stuff.
But everyone is different...

Correct. Some people can't take cipro, but it has helped a lot of us. It can't hurt to try it and be mindful of any side effects as this is the case with trying any new drug.

My daughter has been doing IV cipro for 3 months. No problems. She is 19. It's really helping Bart.
