After close to a year free of Bab.'s I am back in treatment again - flared from a few rounds of IV steriods.

So, I seem to forget what to expect when treating babs.

I am on day 3 of Zythro/Mepron/ Lip. ART and getting what feels like inflammation up and down my spine - not really my back muscles but more like my spine itself. Crazy head pressure too but I expect that!

Does anyone get spinal cord pain when treating Bab.s?

Why did you do IV steroids?

Yes, I know....That is how I landed in Dr. H.'s office - because of a steriod disaster.

I had steriods 3 years ago when I THOUGHT TBI's were a thing of the past. That was for "complications" after brain surgery. That was 4 months of Dexamethasone that nearly destroyed my life.

Over the past 2 months I had 2 surgeries; One where instructions were given to not give any steriods - during or after the procedure - instructions were ignored and I had one IV dose.

Three weeks ago I had to undergo a re-do surgery. Had a cranioplasty for a titanium plate put into my posterior fossa region. I had to have IV steriods as to avoid brain swelling. Every bag of IV steriod was matched with IV abx.s. This was planned out with the help of my LLMD. Had to have the surgery - no way around it.

I expected a relapse but I am not nearly as bad as I thought I would be and have stayed on abx.s before during and after. Anyway, that is my steriod story.

Babesia and spinal pain anyone? DW

Absolutely. I think it's meningeal swelling.

It's always worse when I start treatment or change meds.

It also seems to resolve pretty quickly for me.

Sorry you're treating Babs again. [Frown]

Thanks BoxerMom; Come to think of it I had the exact same thing happen when I took Coartem last year. That lasted just a few days as well.

I had put off this surgery for 2 years and could not wait any longer. The only saving grace is that I was pretty much symptoms free for a few months before the surgery.

I have faith that I will get Babs down again.

lifewithlyme; Thanks for the feedback. Looks to be part of Babs herx. Mine does not seem to be as bad as yours..sorry you are in so much pain.

I am finding alot of overall nerve sensitivity. If I touch something cold, like an ice cube, I feel it in my upper spine. Crazy nasty stuff...
