Hi! I am igm pos for ehrlichia. I did doxy for about 8 months and was on rifampin and couldn't tolerate it. It raised my estrogen to the 1000s and caused bad headaches. Are there other treatment options for those with ehrlichia besides doxy + rifampin?

My LLMD just put me on a cocktail for Babs and Bart even though I was also positive for Ehrlichia and it just went away with the other abx I was taking.
Never did doxy at all. Rifampin also works on bart and I was on that for a while. You have to ramp up and definitely take it with food. It does mess up the hormones though.
Ask your LLMD for another alternative to take.

I don't know why I can't get any of the links to work. Anyway -- cipro or levaquin might be another option. But I would probably add those to doxy and not just rely on one med.
At the webpage above type in the number -- 8980758 -- then click on the word search.
That should bring up the abstract and then you can click to read the full journal article.
From my notes at the LDA conference -- the treatment for ehrlichia/anaplasma used to be considered 7 - 10 days. The new thinking is 7 - 10 months. Not sure from my notes if they were talking about humans or dogs, but since you say you have already had 8 months of treatment then I think it probably applies to humans.

I did cipro for a long time, but it was for hitting Bartonella.

The old thinking that it is easy to get rid of with 3 weeks of low level doxy is DEFINITELY not true for many of us, who have had it long term, along with all the other TBD's.
Let us know if you find anything that works. I need to take care of that one still, too. Anaplasma, that is; it used to be called one of the 2 Ehlichia's.
