I feel like my Lyme symptoms are better, but my gut and intestines are still not well.

I also have huge food allergies. I am currently on Lyme and parasite protocol.

I am tired of the limited diet and pain in intestines and left hip. Anyone find the answer to this?

Have been drinking homemade Kefir (like yogurt but more liquid) and it helps immensely with my gut issues. It is a milk product though so not sure if you are having dairy allergies.

You need lots of probiotics. At least 100 billion CFU's a day.

It is boring to do a limited diet but eating stuff that causes inflammation just causes a vicious cycle of pain.

The only suggestion I would have is to try to cook your meals differently to mix it up.

I went through this for almost a year and now I can eat most anything.

I take 50 billions cfu's of probiotics twice daily between my abx doses. I also eat 1 cup of plain unsweetened yogurt for a snack, and chase my probiotic at bedtime with a few gulps of Kefir, straight from the container. I had a diagnosis of "IBS-D" before my lyme diagnosis... since treating the Lyme my stomach issues have become non-exstent. One thing I do know, for myself, is that seeds, nuts are BAD BAD news for my guts. They just don't get digested and spend their entire journey in my body creating cramping and gas and extreme bloating...So I avoid flax seeds, chia seeds, blackberry seeds and guavas, and sunflower seeds at all costs. But the probiotics and the Kefir have really really helped me.

I made homemade kefir (from kefir grains given to me by a friend) and drank that daily while treating lyme. My lyme doctor said it was mandatory.

Kefir is known to promote good digestion. If you can't handle dairy, you can make kefir from coconut water. Just go to "the Body Ecology Diet" website and learn all about it.

The woman who created the Body Ecology Diet had severe candida and cured herself by various methods. Spend some time studying her website and you will do your gut a world of good.

My lyme doctor told me to follow the Body Ecology Diet while treating lyme disease. I also took lots of probiotics. I believe this is the key to getting the gut straightened out.

Of course, bartonella will cause lots of gut pain all by itself. I had that. It was terrible. Getting rid of bart is what took care of those terrible abdominal pains for me.

Get tested for h.pylori in multiple ways. I had a stool test a blood test the same week. Stool test was negative and blood test was positive. The breath test is most accurate. I followed up with prev-pack.

Doctor's blog on h. pylori and lyme:

http://lymemd.blogspot.com/2010/02/h-pylori.html

Also, get a CDSA test or have metamatrix do a full GI panel. There may be something being missed than needs to be addressed. Read this website about it:

Getting to the Root of the Problem:

http://www.food-allergy.org/root3.html

I thought I had multiple food allergies. I couldn't digest anything. It turns out it was severe gut dysbiosis.

Make sure your probiotics have saccharomyces boulardii or ad it to your probiotics. My doc has me take probiotics WITH food once a day and said that kefir and yogurt aren't strong enough to address my problem.

imaqt: Have you seen the book GAPS Diet... It has healed my gut and I was on a hard abx protocol for two plus years and not so hard for two before that but my gut was shot. Now that my gut lining is healing and candida gone, I am able to eat more variety. This I feel has been key to my getting to remission. Blessings...

I am on the SCD diet, which I think is really close to GAPS diet. I do know if I eat anything that is high carbs I get really sick.

I know I can't eat fruit, sugar, any sweetner, alcohol, yeast, mushrooms, anything fermented, etc.

I am going to a allergist that also addresses immune issues. I hope he will shed some light on my health.

I appreciate all the input.

Allergies and abdominal symptoms are on the list for parasites. Anyone with a chronic illness like Lyme are more likely to have this co-infection. It can be the missing link to getting well. Google parasite symptoms.

If you have alot of food allergies chances are you have leaky gut. My LLNP had me eliminate gluten as well as any ffods I showed allergic reponses to. She also has me taking digestive enzymes with my meals. I just recently saw a new practitioner and she added in Licorice DGL to be taken 20minutes before meals.
