After a year of treatment with the Cowden Protocol, I've finally reached the end of the road. Nearly all of the non-brain inflammatory problems I had a year ago have been eliminated. I can walk normally again!!! I can move my left arm. Cowden has been close to a miracle for me.
I still have about 5 days a month of severe headaches and stiff neck (drastically decreased from having a severe headache and severe stiff neck EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR OVER A YEAR before Cowden. I also still have moderate short term memory, word search, and mild speech problems, but I can live with those issues.
My LLMD is now going to clean up the remaining infections, starting with H pylori. So, today, I'm starting a two week course of antibiotics with Biaxin and Amoxicillin.
After that, I may do a course of Valtrex for toxoplasma (my LLMD is waiting on new blood work to decide on that).
Then, I'll be starting Protandim in an effort to restore my immune system to health. My LLMD has Lyme and has been treating with Protandim and has had very good results.
Of course, the real test is to see if we can keep the lyme beaten down over the long term and if we can find some form of maintenance meds, herbs, or supplements to make that happen.

Great to hear you are better.
Wondering about valtrex for toxo. Anti-viral for bacteria?
Will have to research protandim, never heard of it.

That is great that you are so much better. I hope you can find the right maintenance herbs to help you stay where you are.
What does he think causes a stiff neck?

Is Protandim similar to NrF2?
I thought Toxoplasmosis was a parasite...either way, it's definitely not a virus.
Great news that you are doing so well! I wish we all could have a success story like yours!

Fantastic you are doing so much better. :)
Not to diminish your gains but, I just saw another post of yours and commented. Your stiff neck with other symptoms sounds like babs. Does your LLMD only treat if blood tests are positive, or does she treat clinically as well?

My LLMD says cowden can get rid of Lyme but not coinfections. Be careful. I am glad you are feeling better, but it does sound like Babs is still in the mix.

Poppy and Lax Mom - I must have misunderstood what the Valtrex is for. I'll have to clarify that with my LLMD when she contacts me with the test results.
Protandim is a Nrf2 synergizer. It has been shown to reduce oxidative stress levels by an average of 40% in 30 days and produces a 300% increase in cellular antioxidant Glutathione. As I understand it, Protandim improves cell health and allows the immune system to improve.
Catgirl and Faithful - my understanding is that Cowden treats lyme and co-infections. I've been taking Artemisia for Babs since February (diagnosed clynically, not with positive blood test), but my stiff neck improvement started well before starting the Artemisia and I don't necessarily attribute much (or any) of my improvement to the Artemisia, but who knows.

"My LLMD is now going to clean up the remaining infections, starting with H pylori."
That was the first thing my LLMD treated. The two weeks of taking prevpak was tough, but I felt much better afterwards.
"Is Protandim similar to NrF2?"
Yes, I've taken both. I did better on protandim because there was an ingredient in nrf2 that didn't agree with me.
I don't do either now and use whey protein and methylation vitamins (better results and cheaper).

How do I learn about methylation vitamins? Where do I find out why I should use these vitamins. I have been staying away from the B vitamins while I am clearing the parasites.
All the Best, MattH

MattH: My LLMD referred me to MTHFR.net for information on methylation issues.
