Today I'm starting a two week course of Biaxin and Amoxicillin for H Pylori. The last time I was on heavy antibiotics for lyme 10 years ago, I had an episode where I felt like my abdomen was going to EXPLODE (I guess due to a yeast bloom or something). Anyway, I remember taking Acidophilus at that time.

My question is should I be taking Acidophilus during my current two-week course of antibiotics?

Yes. I got very uncomfortable gas from taking acidophilus, but
did fine eating a cup of yogurt every night instead. Don't take your probiotics, acidophilus or yogurt within 2 yours of eating, the abx will just kill the good bacteria you're trying to replace.

It might be a good idea to also take s.boularrdi. That will prevent c. difficile.

There are many different brands of acidophilus -- some people do better on specific brands. But definitely take acidophilus while on antibiotics and at least a couple of weeks after stopping the antibiotics.

YES!!!! Always take probiotics when taking antibiotics. Take them two hours away from the antibiotics.

Do not eat sugar and white foods while on the abx!!! Limit fruit!!!!

s.boulardii would be good too!

Most "acidophilus" only has ONE strain. Is that what you bought?

This one is really good and has 50 billion per capsule.
