Please share experiences with cranio-sacral therapy. My doctor is recommending this and I don't know if it is ok to try or not.

- Cranial-Sacral therapy can be fabulous help. Absolutely fabulous, if done in a style that is safe for those with lyme. Lyme usually affects the spine in various severe ways. So that spine must be handled very carefully.
NEVER, EVER go to anyone who will suddenly twist the neck or spine.
This can be very dangerous for anyone with lyme and has caused many (including myself) prolonged damage and pain.
There are some good techniques. Upledger worked very nicely for me with a D.O.(doctor of osteopathy). However, as long as lyme is in the picture and causing muscles to go into contortions from the toxins, I could never get a treatment to hold. I got only temporary relief with each session.
Magnesium helps but, ulimately, it's best to be sure that lyme is being attended to, all support is on board, so that treatments can "hold" for healing to occur.

- Massage therapy worked better for me, regarding pain relief and the treatment benefits lasted longer and seemed much more profound.
Feldenkrais was responsive for teaching me about posture, erogonomic "mindfulness" at all times. -

- If seeking a chiropractor or osteopathic physican (or even a physical therapist or massage therapist) they need to know about lyme.
They don't need to know ALL about treatment, etc. as your LLMD is doing that but they need to know enough to not make anything worse.
Ask your LLMD or LL ND for a referral. Talk to others in area support groups.
A LL professional should know (but always remind them) to NEVER TWIST THE NECK or spine. There are certain cranial sacral and body work techniques that are safe, such as UPLEDGER & FELDENKRAIS. More detail in the BODY WORK posts, further down in this set.
Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc. (Be aware that those in this category can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, perhaps even just a short course. Do ask first.)
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches.

I saw a chiropractor for it. It didn't really help me much (I think it stirred up nerve pain actually).
One person wanted to charge me $250 for the first session. Be careful of scams. Some insurance will pay for this with the right practitioner (like a chiropractor who takes your insurance).
I had better luck with an osteopathic doctor for adjustments.
Hes seemed to understand lyme and the internal systems better.

My husband is getting regular cranial-sacral therapy treatments. It helps much more than the chiropractor does.
It helps relax the tight muscles. This morning he woke up with a headache and knows its time to schedule another treatment.

I never responded well to it but I also have another neuro condition that may have gotten stirred up during treatment.
It always made my headaches worse. Later I was told by my NS never to have that sort of work done.
I have heard alot of good results about it from others with lyme so maybe give it a try?

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of...that it'll stir things up instead of help.
Or that it'll do nothing.
I mean, chiropractic is great for neck/head pain issues, but I don't have those unless a bone goes off in my neck.
But I already have a chiropractor who uses very, very gentle technique (equipment similar to an activator, no twisting or sudden movements), and it doesn't make me sicker...
I have had Osteopathic treatments, and never really felt they did anything...except empty my wallet.
And the last thing I need right now is more wallet emptying...

I loved it. It really helped with pain and relaxation.
You have to find someone very experienced in it. It's VERY gentle.

My biological dentist did some for me. It was awesome. I need to find someone who does this other than my dentist though.

I usually recommend a well-trained Upledger practitioner for CST for other issues. If anyone wants help scanning the therapists on the website for training link. BUT another type of CST helped me greatly pre-diagnosis. I don't know what it is called.

I would recommend it but you really have to know someone who is experienced in it, try and get referrals
Most people I know who did it had quite a "healing reaction" from it- you are dislodging toxins from the brain and it can be quite horrible at first
have you ever looked into upper cervical work? it helps your body work the way it's supposed to-it's been a godsend for me and many others I know who use it- but again, not easy in the beginnning

My husband usually had 24 hours of feeling really good before he herxed from the cranials.
Now he doesn't herx very much afterwards, just feels a whole lot better!
Be sure you drink plenty of water to help flush the toxins out.
Start out with short sessions in the beginning, only 20 or 30 minutes.
