I can't walk without proper footwear and shoe inserts that support my arches.
Suggest consulting a pedorthist for help.
I also have muscle wasting in my right lower leg due to previous severe nerve disease. I don't know how to regain the lost muscle.

- Birkenstocks are saving my feet.
Indeed, lots of foot trouble all along the way but I'm so glad to have birkenstocks. They may not be the most attractive but they not only save my feet, also save my knees and back with the fabulous arch support.
Some clearance styles can be found for a great discount at www.6pm.com - that is the discontinued site for Zappos - also search at www.zappos.com and then see if you have a LOCAL certified Birkenstock dealer.
Maybe, FIRST, see a podiatrist for suggestions specific to YOUR feet. You may benefit from custom made orthodics but I find Birkenstocks better for me.
Your LLMD should be informed and ask them for foot specialst suggestions. -

Keep in mind that home therapy plan may have to be customized for Lyme. And that response to therapy, arch supports, or surgery may differ by your individual situation. I agree with the suggestion to see a good PT or foot specialist. And bring a history of your foot problems and what you have done that has and hasn't helped

- If you see a foot specialist, be sure to take with you 2 or 3 pairs of your best shoes so they can observe your feet move in those. It's very important. -

Yes. Tendon and ligament issues have been a huge, recurring problem for me. I thought it was from a few months of Cipro I was on in 2010. But now I'm pretty sure it's lyme. Currently have Achilles Tendonitis and plantar fascaitis (sp.) on my left leg and foot (my bad side). Was diagnosed with RSDS on my right side in 2011. Which I now attribute to lyme as well. If it is lyme causing tendon problems in your feet, I agree, orthotics are a big help. Also, be careful with falling or stumbling. I have had ligaments rupture in my thumb, foot and ankle just from the slightest jarr.

I know two Lyme patients with fallen arches. The symptom definitely showed up after infection.
I've also read about this as a Lyme symptom, but I can't remember where.

I have tibialis anterior deterioration/weakness and quadricep wasting. Also reaches around my calf. Only in one leg. I think it's infection damaging/irritating nerves.

I don't know what I have, but I've had severe foot issues for more than 18 mo. I just saw a sports med Dr this week and will start with a trainer next week.
I hope they can get me back on my feet!
Spent a year with a podiatrist that got me nowhere fast. Had physical therapy, etc.
I have custom orthotics which help a lot. I do not walk barefoot AT ALL.
