Hello all. I have an appt with dr C in mo at the end of the year and wanted to know what all he does for detox? I saw him about 8 years ago and there wasn't much offered at the time. I know some of the things to do like herbs, sauna, dry brushing, etc.

Just wondered if he offers anything extra because I get so sick with abx where I can't get out of the bed for months until I stop the abx..even then it takes me months to feel back to baseline.

So I am going to start my detox now since I have so many months of a wait to get into see him. Anyone have any extra advice to help clear this mess out once I start killing it again??

Also does that cholestrol drug (can't remember the name) ..the powder that clears neurotoxins...does it help? Thanks

I haven't seen him in several years, so I'm not sure what he does now.

You are thinking of CSM.. I know he uses that or Whelcol. I hate both of them.

Maybe you could go to the archives here and see what everyone is doing for detox. (if you don't get many suggestions on this thread)

Good luck!!

The word "detox" always catches my eye - and concern that sometimes it can be too aggressive. But that term can mean so many different to many people. For a good foundation:

Your reaction to antibiotics is not uncommon for many with lyme & other tick-borne infections. For that reason, even if you go ahead with your appt and start a new abx protocol, you might want to first read over detail here:

I second Lymetoo's suggestion to look at the archives - click on Search at the top of the page, type in "detox," select Medical Questions or General Support and then go through the threads. Just know we're all different when it comes to what works for us.

For anyone having a really difficult time detoxing, there's genetic tests we can take, like the detoxigenomic liver test offered through Genova Diagnostic Lab in NC, or the Amy Yasko tests. These tests show whether we CAN detox or not.

For someone like me, for example, who has a genetically hard time detoxing, I'm doing it through sweating in a FIR sauna every five days - it's slow but sure.

Maybe you should consider seeing a doctor who does both traditional and alternative protocols?

Dr. C was my first LLMD. He recommended activated charcoal, Actos, and that diet supplement Alli (sp?). Only the charcoal worked for me.

I saw Dr. C. in MO last August but because of the distance am now seeing Dr. K in CO. I've tried CSM years ago and just recently, and it never worked for me. However, my doc told me to take charcoal, beginning with 280MG and work up to 540MG. It's the only thing that has helped me so far. I'm taking other supplements and herbs to help with the elimination process, but the charcoal has been a small miracle. Those who don't do well with the CSM, may find some relief from charcoal.

Can you tell me what you mean by "charcoal". I've seen this word several times and always wondered.

Is there a specific brand you buy? From where?

Or does your doc give it to you? What's the dosage per day?

Am seeing Dr. H but not till end of month.

thanks for any info

I'm taking 540MG of activated charcoal by Solaray that I purchased at Vitamin Cottage. My LLD said any brand would do. I chose Solaray because I've used their products in the past. It was only $7.85 for 90 capsules. There may be better brands out there, but it's worth a try.

Byron White Detox 2 is a great product also, but you need to get it through a doctor.

I am not sure where he is located at, but I would guess it is likely the same person.

You have to take the charcoal several hours away from other meds.
