I'm having definite Bart symptoms. Bottoms of feet, elbows, knees, ear pain and ringing in ears... I had been on abx for Babs and the doc stopped those meds because we initially thought the ear pain may have been from Co-Artem, which lists ear pain as a side effect. Since being off the meds the ear pain is better, but not 100%. I've noticed that since starting Levofloxacin I started getting ear pain again, but it has been much better, so I'm thinking it was a herx reaction to the Levo. I'm taking A-Bart and A-Babs. My Bart symptoms are numerous and my knees are really starting to hurt. I am wondering if I should cut back on the A-Bart until I don't feel the herxing or should I stick with the 12 drops 2x a day and wait until the herxing is over? I was on 12 drops before starting Levo. Any thoughts? I'm just not sure how to regulate the drops when you're already feeling so many symptoms of Bart.

Thanks!

Good questions! I have bart and have tried A-Bart, it stirred everything up. I remember reading how people back down and start working up again slowly. You are on more drops than I ever made it to. I wonder if it is bearable, if you should stick with it.

Good luck!

Thanks, ktkdommer. I just don't know what to do. The ear pain is coming back and it's just unbearable. I keep getting high pitched ringing in my ear (the opposite ear as the one that is in pain) and the ringing is more frequent now. It's so frustrating. I called my LLMD to let him know what is going on with the ear pain, but I wonder if I just need to suck it up and deal with it while the meds work.

Boxermom, when I had bart symptoms, I had pain in my knees like you wouldn't believe. It felt like someone with a sledgehammer went after both knees. I found out that I was low in iron, which makes sense since bart uses your iron for its own nefarious reasons. Could you be low in iron? Once I started supplementing, the pain went away.

I've added iron, but my labs are in normal range with the exception of RDW, which is a little high (16.4). Normal is 12.3-15.4. I pointed that out to my GP and he said it was fine and nothing to worry about.

Boxermom, whey you use Byron White herbs, you are never supposed to get to the point where you are herxing badly. I would go back to a really minimum dose such as 1 drop 2 x day and ramp up very slowly.

I guess what makes this complicated is that you are also on ABX, which can cause the herxing. Byron White herbs work very differently than ABX and they build your immune system to combat the infections.

While taking only BW herbs, you are supposed to back down to what you were taking right before your symptoms worsened when you begin having a bad herx. Then you stay on this number of drops for a while and very gradually keep on increasing.

So sorry about the ringing. Mine is pretty much constant. It is no fun. Some days are worse than others. Perhaps when you back down on the BW, the ear ringing will let up or lessen. Your ABX could be causing this as well.

The hard part is figuring out whether it is a side effect of the medication or inflammation in the auditory canal while the infection is clearing... Good luck!
