Anyone had experiences/stories about being treated by a MD vs. ND... basically abx vs. natural route? My doc wants to start me on IV and i'm FREAKING OUT. Thinking about trying the natural route, but not sure.

- There is no either - or, really. Many NDs strongly suggest antibiotics with specific nutrient or herbal support.
And some LLMD strongly suggest nutrient &/or herbal support along with Rx.
I suggest going with the IV along with guidance by a LL ND.
I've tried on my own for many years to conquer this with basic herbs. I've not succeeded. I can't do any full protocol but have taken the best of the bunch (but only one or two a month) and am still homebound now, nearly five years.
No LLMDs in my state, though I did travel to see two years ago. Then, LL NDs came to town. Even the LL ND I consulted twice (as far as my money would go) insisted that I required 9 months of IVs with support. I just could not afford any of that.
I also could not afford the full oral protocol (Rx & support) then then suggested so I've tried on my own. Not the way I suggest if you have options.
If you can afford, it's my recommendation to either very soon
1. get a RIFE machine,
2. go with ZHANG's protocol,
3. or BUHNER's
- and find a LL ND to guide any of those.
OR get started with IV treatment AND nutrient & herbal support.
I think the most pro-active and assertive you can be the better, as long as you are guided by expert advice. -

- IMO, the top three adjunct avenues that I would consider were I to be you. More in the LL ND thread.
LL ND (Naturopathic doctor) links here, too, with articles & books for various approaches.

I did fabulously well with this the two times (about 3 months each) that I was on it. I would have continued had that been possible but it was outside of my budget -- still, very reasonable in cost for the quaility, very reasonable.
Allicin here does make a person smell like garlic, but that can be counteracted to some degree by taking green powders high in chlorophyll.
LIVER & KIDNEY SUPPORT & and several HERXHEIMER support links, too. -

- To help in your decision, you might want to look over the "ototoxic drugs" posts here. Many Rx can be toxic to the ears.
It's just that lyme can also be very toxic and damaging to the ears, if left untreated. And the more proactive you can be, the better.
However, whatever the treatment, it can be hard on the liver -- and this is why liver support is an absolute requirement with taking most drugs, ever, for any reason but especially where lyme is concerned due to herxheimer reactions that can be quite toxic just from the spirochete die-off.
Liver support may help offset the stress of some Rx on the ears. Best to begin support BEFORE starting the Rx. And adhere to ear safety practices, too.

I used an LLND after being sick for 10 years with steroid involvement. 18 months on IV and I am in remission.

- faithful,
It appears you are both in the same state. Wonder if victoriarf might appreciate the name of your LL ND who worked with you during IV treatment.
victoriarf,
One advantage to IV is that the same IV line for the antibiotics can also be used for IV glutathione or other support measures. -

Wow, thanks for all this information! It is much appreciated. Keebler, I'm gonna check out the links you posted. I always thought LLND's didn't really do antibiotics and just did homeopathic remedies- sounds like I'm on the right track to do IV and perhaps find an ND to help support my treatment.
