Hi All,

Last night I woke up at 2am because I could hear people arguing, speaking etc.but couldn't make out the words.

I soon realized I was having an auditory hallucination.

It has happened 3 times before, back when I used to take Thorne Curcumin (Meriva 500, I think it is called?).

It was really bad last night and went on even during my sleep.

Has this happened to you?
Today is definately a flare day, because other body systems are affected.

-strange spontaneous bruises-6 so far
-drenching sweats
-peeing every half hour
-urine greenish
-tremors and shakes
-about 30 red bumps on my chest and neck-look like pimples, shiny like scar tissue looks. Not pimples.

The auditory hallucinations are troublesome because it kept me from sleeping deeply.

could this be babs or lyme, or does it sound like another Co-infection?

Thank you kindly for your replies [Smile]

Rest your weary mind. Indeed, what you describe is perfectly normal, even for those who don't have lyme - from time to time - especially during weary sleep cycles.

Liver & kidney stress can cause this. Some Rx can but, with lyme and all that inner & middle ear inflammation -- and the brain inflammation -- the ear and brain signals can go a bit into overdrive with activity.

MAGNESIUM is the number one helper to calm that overactive NMDA activity and help the GABA to calm.

ANY of the infections can impact this and, more directly, the overall toxic load on the body.

Be sure your liver support is tip top.

Talk to your LLMD not so much about the hyper auditory synapses but about the other symptoms you report.

Magnesium also helps calm tremors and shakes. Still, your LLMD needs to know about that full set of symptoms. Medication shift may be in order.

AUDITORY HALLUCINATIONS (which are usually not really hallucinations by definition so be very careful how you might toss about that term other than with your LLMD or others with lyme) are discussed below.

For the kind that are, though, there is still a very logical explanation that most others will not understand and, if your regular medical chart, could ruin your future. It all comes back to TOXIC LOAD.

How long since you last ate before bedtime? You might do well with a little bit of carbohydrate and a little fat an hour before bedtime. Carbs are good. We require them.

[No longer will I say "good" before food terms. Of course, you want the wisest kinds.]

What you describe could be porphyria, too. Green urine (it can be various colors for no apparent reason such as food dyes or certain foods) . . . auditory hallucinations are common with porphyhria, too.

Are you getting enough carbohydrates? That is vital to help prevent excess build up of toxic porphyrins. COMPLEX carbs are best, of course, but just be sure not to go low carb as that can be dangerous.

See the "Secondary Porphyria" post here (but be wiser with the quality of carbs you get. Spirulina is the best, really):

For the first couple years with Lyme I would wake up to hear a door slamming, as if someone had broken into our house.

I used to run a support group and constantly heard others say they would be awakened by the sound of a wire shorting out right next to their head.

My sleep doctor told me these are hypnogogic hallucinations and are a sign of poor quality sleep.

In my case, I turned out to have 3 sleep disorders.

I thought I heard an "occupy wall street" demonstration coming up my quiet suburban side street a few years back...it was while I was on Biaxin. i heard it every night for a week.

Sorry you are having a bad day. I agree the urine should be checked. and also mention the bruises and spots.

Thanks so much for all your replies.

I am SO relieved that I am not the only one with this symptom. This morning, on my way to work, tremors and tics in full force, I was thinking, "This is it! You're going insane from this disease!"

I was envisioning Mental Health locking me up and refusing to treat lyme and co. Being trapped in there forever, deteriorating daily because of the lyme in my CNS.

Sharing your experiences (doors slamming, phones ringing, and protesters, really took a load off my back. Thank you.

I am going to try a castor oil pack tonight after an Epsom bath, and see if it doesn't help get some toxins out. I sure hope toxin load means that babs and lyme are being slaughtered by my abx and immune system!

I'll tell my LLND next visit. I took pictures of the skin rash to show. And mention the urine too.

Do you think green urine might be from all the leafy greens I am eating?
I'm sorry if that is a silly question-but I am eating more leafy greens than before.

I might try a small bowl of oatmeal tonight before bed to see if it helps.

This is an aside, but is there any way these could have been mini seizures? Just asking because the tics were so bad today and last night. My left side was constantly tap-tap-tapping all night and my head was tic-tic-tic all morning.

OK, thanks everyone. [Smile]
