Did a Myers yesterday and got really tired.

Now today I feel run-over (and I already usually feel run over, but this run over the over).

Ug. Was hoping for some symptom relief but everything I try either doesn't seem to help or makes me worse.

Why would a Myers cocktail mess with me?

My LLMD said that some people feel worse for a day with Myers before feeling better.

Alternative idea - could you look at all the ingredients in the cocktail and see if something in it is something you either don't tolerate or don't know if you tolerate? Glutathione (if it the kind with it), or a B vitamin in a form that you can't handle because of your methylation genetics?

I never had a doc really go over methylation.

Here are my results if they are useful:

+/-

MTHFR A1298C
MTRR H595Y
MTRR K350A
BMHT 02
BMHT 04
BMHT 08
ACHY 01
ACHY 02
ACHY 19
CBS C699T

+/+

VDR Bsm
NAT2 R197Q

I have one doc that says take active B-vitamins.
That's all I really have to go on.

CBS needs Molybdenum, Vitamin B12 (any or all of the forms methylcobolamin, hydroxycobolamin, adenosylcobolamin; NO cyanocobolamin), Magnesium, Zinc, and a low sulfur, low taurine (vegetarian) diet.

CBS also needs Yucca (daily) & charcoal/magnesium flushes periodically to get rid of excess ammonia.

Must address CBS first before the other mutations.

MTRR needs Vitamin B12 in any or all forms as mentioned above.

MTHFR needs 5-MTHF (5-methyltetrahydrofolate) and methylcobolamin (methyl B12).

VDR needs to watch to not overdose on Vitamin D.

All the mutations require the active P5P form of Vitamin B6.

And yes, Meyer's cocktail would make someone with your mutations feel horrible initially...

Does that mean I will feel better in a couple days?

Did I waste the vitamins? Should I not get these treatments?

Try reading the links posted and seeing how many of your results you can understand. I would suggest using genetic genie, but it seems it is only for people who did 23 and me - you can't type in existing results.

My husband always felt worse after a Myers cocktail.

The doctor said its the glutathione that makes him feel worse and its the patients that are most toxic that feel worse.

My husband stopped getting the glutathione and has since quit getting any of the Myers cocktails.

He did find out he has the 677 MTHFR mutation and it treating for it. I wonder if he could handle the Myers cocktail now? He hasn't tried it since.

I've done all that. I'm still confused.
People say work on CBS or sulphur first, but I've checked my urine sulphur levels 15 times and they are already ok. I've done some active B's and I get no positive result.

"The doctor said its the glutathione that makes him feel worse and its the patients that are most toxic that feel worse."

My doctor said if it makes me feel worse I need to do more of them. The logic of this type of treatment is really beginning to wear on me [Frown]

Did you do the cocktail with or without glutathione?

Yeah, I would wonder if the Meyer's Cocktail you had included glutathione or not... Mobilizing toxins can kick one's butt...

Are you taking Molybdenum? If not, this may be why the cocktail caused trouble despite normal urine sulfate levels.

In other words, you may have normal sulfate urine excretion when not getting the increased supplements & glutathione in the cocktail, but adding that cocktail may overload things and cause a sulfur issue...

BTW, I don't understand why they recommend to check urine sulfate, when it is unconverted sulfites that need to be checked for the CBS & SUOX mutations...just my own personal observation, FWIW.

"Are you taking Molybdenum?"

Yes, 150mcg. Is that a good dose?

"Yeah, I would wonder if the Meyer's Cocktail you had included glutathione "

I don't think so. Pretty sure it was vits and minerals.

May need more than 150mcg/day initially. I was taking 1000mcg/day when I first started supplementing. Gradually decreased to about 350mcg/day.

Might ask your doctor to decrease the amount of stuff in the Meyer's Cocktail, or only give you half the bag next time.

Methylation defects lead to an accumulation of toxins and when the methylation gets re-started, the mobilization of the toxins really can wipe a person out.

The way to get around that, or to decrease how horrible you feel is to decrease the amount of supplements that stimulate methylation, and making sure you are supplementing supporting minerals - especially molybdenum, zinc & magnesium.

Organ support can also help - liver, kidney, bowel supporting herbs.

And also reducing exposure to artificial food ingredients (colors, flavors, preservatives), GMO's, pesticides, harsh cleaning chemicals, etc., as much as possible is helpful so the body can have a chance to catch up with the internal toxins instead of having to constantly deal with external ones as well.
