My financial situation is quite dire and there is no way i can keep buying malarone.
Will artemisinin be enough for babs? any ideas?
I know this is a question for my doc and i will be asking her as well soon.

oh, any good brands of art u can recommend. Not the strongest(need to start slow because of herxing) but good quality and not expensive.
Is there such a thing as a gentler art, easier to tolerate as far as herxing?

I think it is generally considered necessary to use two drugs to avoid resistance developing. What the other one you might use should be, maybe others can suggest.

I would at least treat for parasites with some herbal formulas. You can also do cryptoleptis.
Also, consider protmyxzoa. The symptoms are similar to babs. There is another link on the board with a list of symptoms. You don't have to have all of them to have it. And all you have to do to feel better is cut your fat. Some people cut their meat too.

What about the combination of zithro and art. would that be enough for babs?

Art doesn't cut it with babesia. I was taking it while I was treating bart, and Dr. S told me I had just caused resistance to it so it was pointless to continue taking it.
You could pulse Coartem every 2-3 weeks. You could take other anti-malarial drugs that are cheap like primaquine and chloroquine.
If you have been treating babesia for a long time (like a year), then you might consider treating protomyxzoa because the symptoms can be similar. The main difference would be you would have insomnia rather than sleeping all the time, if it is PR. You could have nasal congestion or an occasional dry cough and horse voice or pain in your jaw or teeth. PR treatment can be interchangeable with babesia except you never take high amounts of fat.
Try the low fat diet and ivermectin. There are several different protocols but the most common way is to pulse as high a dose as you can tolerate once a week. Ivermectin is very cheap.

I am using cryptolepsis for babs.
Clinical dx for Babs.
The crypto has helped with temperature disregulation already-I don't have low grade fevers every afternoon.
I am on a low dose of crypto, working my way up.
20 drops twice daily, and I've been taking it for a month.
I also take garlic and cloves.

I agree with others recommending crypto. Buhner is recommending sida acuta as well. There is a web site that has a blend of crypto, sida acuta, and another herb (brain dead this weekend without access to my regular computer files). It cost $40 for a 4 oz bottle.

Artemisinin Essential from Hopkinton Drug is helping a lot of people. I just got it myself for the PR. Always pulse any form of artemisinin.
Artemix has two of the most potent artemisnin derivatives - artemether and artesunate. Artemether is one of the drugs in Coartem.
By the way, Coartem costs about $100 per 3 day pulse and it is what got me over the top of my treatment for babesia duncani. Primaquine is $100 for 100 tablets. Some people have cured babesia just using it or a combination of primaquien and chloraquine.
I would still not try to kick a virulent infection with just herbs because you can just cause a resistance to the herbs. Use the herbs with meds.
Crytolepsis did nothing for me and I took half a dropper full twice a day. I don't see any point in taking this stuff if it is not making people well or keeping them in remission.

1/2 of a dropper twice a day may not be enough.
1 tsp three time per day should be target dose.
I count about 100 drops to equal about 1 tsp.
I just full dropper to about 1/2 and add three times to glass of water.
I'm giving my herbs only one more month then trying coatem for 30 day course.

Lots of Antiparsitic herbs, digestive enzymes, coconut oil/water, extra cloves and salt/c got rid of my babs and bart. Very inexpensive.
