Hi,

I am not in treatment yet - seeing my LLMD in two weeks.

For the past month and a half I have had non-stop numbness in my feet, legs, arms and side of face though the most severe is in feet and legs. It is starting to affect my walking.

I also get burning of the legs from the knees down.

For those of you that have experienced these symptoms, have they cleared up with your treatment? I am concerned that I may have permanent nerve damage.

My LLMD treats with high dose antibiotics.

Any insight is appreciated.

Ja,

Yes, these are common to Lyme and Co's. I don't want to scare you but be prepared that some things will improve, some things will get worse, and some new symptoms will come from nowhere.

Eventually you will improve, just be patient. Treatment is a long marathon.

good luck

gmb

Hi Jaoconnor,

This was one of my primary symptoms before being diagnosed with Lyme and started treatment - it was as you described and completely horrible.

At that time I was also wearing hand braces to type and to go to sleep at night with awful carpal tunnel issues.

About a few months into treatment the Carpal tunnel resolved such that I could stop using braces - it never really came back. The peripheral neuropathy or the numbness/tingling in my arms/legs took more time to improve - but it did.

It has mostly resolved with ongoing treatment but does comes back (in much minor manifestations) when I flare or herx.

IMHO I think you will find that treatment will help - you may not notice it in a sudden 'aha' moment but over time it will get better.

Thoughts and prayers for you.
