My gums are so inflamed it hurts to drink water. Everything bothers them they are red and inflammed? I also have a tooth that I know needs a rootcanal but I keep puting it off.

Could lyme and Co cause this?

Two suggestions -

Try oiling pulling and see if that helps. It's easy to do - swish a little sesame oil or sunflower oil around in your mouth for 15 minutes, then spit out. I notice that it calms down my gums.

2nd, you could try drinking mangosteen juice and see if it eases the gum situation. After four days of drinking it, I noticed my gum sensitivity diminished. It's an anti-inflammatory juice found in healthfood stores and online. I like the Mango-Xan version as it's the most tart juice blend.

Dry mouth can be from anticholinergic meds ,ie antidepressants, also heart meds. From dry mouth, without saliva you will get red, sore gums,as the saliva helps protect the teeth and gums.

Dry mouth can also come from active Lyme or sjorgrens,s secondary to Lyme. Sjorgrens manifests with dry eyes, no tears, no saliva ,and no sweating.

The last is the most dangerous as you can overheat very very quickly in the heat and pass out.when I had my sjorgrens and didn't,t know it, I passed out 3 times in Florida from the heat and was hospitalized. Btw the opthamalogist dx this.

Dry mouth can be helped buy not treated. Gum and candies with xylitol can help stim saliva. Biotene helps lubicate mouth but only lasts short time.
Need more info to be of more help

You may not have "burning" but much detail here relates. And, yes, lyme can cause all this. But so can other things.

Be sure to not use any of the main commercial toothpaste. It all is far too harsh. Biotene toothpaste can help soothe dry mouth but it contains some petro products that may be linked to cancer (Propylene glycol).

Sea Buckthorn oil has been the best thing I've found to help.

I get Mango-Xan at the healthfood store for $16. I've also seen it online for around the same.

Lymetoo likes the pure Xango - you can check with her.
