I am currently treating with Samento and Banderol and will start adding antibiotics next week.

One of my symptoms has been tinnitus. Normally, this is a soft hiss in the background. However, I've noticed recently that I seem to be more sensitive to high-pitched noises, like for example breaks squeaking on a car. When I hear such sounds, they sound more shrill than in the past. It's not that they really sound louder, just more shrill.

Does this make any sense???

Sensitivity to normal sounds - hyperacusis - is very common with lyme (and things that go with that such as heavy metals, other infections, magnesium deficiency, etc.). Be sure your LLMD knows about this.

Some Rx can CAUSE this (see the "Ototoxicity" detail below), or cause it to be worse than just the infection-connection hyperacusis.

Lack of adequate liver support during treatment can also contribute. But even the best liver support is often not enough. IMO, if any Rx has triggered this (and is on the ototoxic Rx list), I would get off that and ask your LLMD for a different one / combination - better liver support - or something that might soon ease it.

Drugs (some anti-depressants such as xanax) supposedly intended to soothe hyperacusis are often ototoxic so be mindful of that list, as these often do not work well for those with lyme or can boomerang after an initial "promise" of help, so to speak.

Acetaminophen can also cause hearing damage of various kinds, at even just one dose per week. A recent study discovered that. Avoid acetaminophen - always.
