This has been going on for months. I cant breathe due to my clogged nose. I have sinus pain over and under my eyes.

My doctor says allergies. My pharmacist says no otc meds cause I have high bp.

I'm so frustrated. Doc says live with it so otc are out.

Surely there must be something.

Try goldenrod tincture. That should help with the deeper issue if it is an environmental allergy.

Is your clogged nose and sinus wet or dry? You might be able to take more immediate action for relief herbally but it really depends on whether you have a wet and weepy or dry and irritated thing going on.

couple of thoughts...

boil a pan of water and inhale the steam.

Eating something spicy, like salsa, will clear out your sinuses

Humidifier (COLD) water.

Maybe vicks (vapor rub)

Okay, definitely do a steam inhale. Boil that water hot. Add chopped garlic and onions then take it off the heat and add 1/2 TB of cayenne and a scoop of horseradish if you have it. Use what you have, if you don't have onion then just leave it out. If you have ginger, add some! Tent yourself under a towel and inhale and exhale in the tent for as long as you can. I also sometimes use oil of oregano on my temples and head, I suppose you could also add it to the steam. Hopefully that will provide you some relief.

Then you can get the goldenrod tincture to try to nip it in the bud before it progresses to this again.

If you're really serious, you might want to stop eating gluten and dairy (if you are currently eating it) as they cause inflammation and that's the last thing you need!

Let us know how it goes - hang in there!

Mucinex is safe .. or do nasal rinses with a neti pot or bulb syringe.

Saline nasal rinses may help moisturize, remove allergens, etc. You can get saline nasal spray over-the-counter at the drug store. Use frequently/as needed.

For congestion from mucus, Fenugreek (as far as I know) doesn't raise bp but does thin mucus well. Can make into tea (put 1-2 teasp. fenugreek seed in 2 cups water, bring to a boil, then steep 5-10 minutes; can add other herbs - such as thyme, peppermint, etc. - for flavor after the water boils...).

Another option: Get Eucalyptus oil to put in the water for steam (as suggested above)...this can help considerably to open sinuses.

I'm going through tons of saline spray.

Showers for some unknown reason are painful. Makes my nose hurt.

I'm afraid of the neti since that guy died in louisiana from using one.

Am not doing dairy cept maybe occasisonal butter.

Saline spray is not the same as a nasal rinse. The person who died was dumb enough to use TAP WATER! You must use distilled water.

I prefer the bulb syringe myself.

I wonder is your water chlorinated?

Chlorine in shower steam can be hard on the nasal passages.

Are you treating protomyxzoa or have you been tested for it? It causes nasal congestion. I thought I had developed allergies. It will also cause sinus pain, jaw pain and tooth pain, a horse voice (won't let me spell it correct) and a dry unproductive cough.

We have an aquasana filter that we use for cooking/drinking. We also have a shower filter that filters our bathing water. You should find some way to filter your water. Dr. Mercola (I know) had a good article on chlorinated water. If I find it, I'll post it.

Can you do nasal sprays? It might be helpful to use a steroid spray (like flonase) and an antihistamine spray (Patanase is one).

I know some are against flonase because it's a steroid but my lyme literate allergist said it's more important to clear out the chronic congestion.

Have you tried acupuncture?

I had clogged sinuses for years and got great relief with acupuncture.

Obviously the neti works I have used it because one of my primary problems are severe sinus pressure, it does seem to help clear that problem up for a short duration and gives you relief.
