I had my first meeting with a LLMD and he reviewed my IGeneX results and coinfections test results.

He said that he was pretty sure it is Lyme and said I have one two options that he recommends.

One is to start Abx treatment now.

Two is to wait a couple of weeks and have a culture test (blood) to be more sure that it is Lyme. He said that the culture test is about 80% positive if it is Lyme and that if the test is positive, then there is no doubt it is Lyme.

Anyone have any opinions or experience with the culture test? Is this worthwhile or would you just start Abx and see how that goes?

It's about $600 for that test. I personally would not waste the money.

You'll need it for treatment!

When you start abx and herx, then you will KNOW.

Congrats on finding an LLMD and getting a diagnosis.

I would just begin the Abx. There has been some recent doubt about the culture and until that cloud clears, I wouldn't spend $600. ALS should be responding to the CDC study paper about contamination soon and maybe by that time you will need a culture to check for ongoing infection post Abx - assuming the culture is ok.

Just do the Abx...

The test is valid, just not a guarantee.
