I know some have done allergy treatments that have permanently relieved their allergies. What are these treatments? I have heard of "Naet" and I can't remember the name of the german company that does it with nosodes (is that correct?)
Anything that worked for you please let me know, I'd like to investigate some ways of permanently ridding myself of my allergies to dust, dogs and mold since I'm exposed to all three in my environment.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Fixing my methylation problems and healing my gut did more than any of the other treatments.
I deal with allergies everyday, but I had on of my worst ones a month ago. I had a head to toe allergic reaction with swelling, hives and open wounds.
What fixed it was making a slurry of nettles and water. I covered it boiled it for a few minutes then let it sit over night. I drank several cups of tea per day. This worked better than steroids without the side effects.
I'm still drinking the tea and it's been alleviating the symptoms of my usual allergies. I wish I had been doing this for the last 15 years instead of wasting my money and time on other treatments.
Some antibiotics/drugs, like amoxicillin, made my allergies worse. I'm allergic to an ingredient in antihistamines (I found that out through patch testing). Benadryl, atarax and zyrtec make my allergies worse.
I'll PM you about NAET. Just to sum up, I was worse off in the long run because it misdiagnosed me. I spent a year doing it and wasted a lot of time and money.

Wow Judie, sorry you had to go through that with the hives. That sounds terrible. Thank you for the information. I think augmentin made my allergies worse when I took it as well. Checking my mailbox...

By the way, the woman who runs my Lyme support group got Lyme-induced chemical sensitivities/environmental allergies.
It was severe, like vomiting when she smelled perfume.
ALL this went away when she further treated for Lyme and company. She said it was like a switch just turned off one day.
Also, one of the symptoms of mycoplasma pneumonia is chemical sensitivity/environmental allergies.
Getting rid of triggers to cut down your toxic load and give your immune system a rest can help it reset too.
Remove VOCs from your environment can help your immune system calm down.
Allergies can just change over time even without treatment. Stuff I was allergic to 25 years ago, I stopped being allergic to after avoiding them for awhile.

NAET was a nightmare for me by the way. Probably one of my biggest regrets in treatment. I followed the program all the way through and didn't stop until I gave a full go.
The sales pitch is convincing enough. It really played on my hope to "cure" my allergies.

I think that is what happened to me also. I started off with allergies and was very sick, got headaches and naseau when I smelled perfume or strong smells. I think I tested positive for m. pneummonia. I wonder if that can be triggered again in humid conditions or when the weather changes. I am allergic to dust and dogs and I have dogs, so I can't avoid it unfortunately. Thank you for the VOC list!

Has anyone tried homeopathics or sublingual immunotherapy (like allergy shots, but drops under the tongue) for long term relief of allergies?

I tried them years ago and they did help. The problem is if you have lyme you may test allergic to more things then you really are.

My experience has been that the Lyme/co's interfere with the immune system, so the desensitization treatments (sublingual, sub-cutaneous, or NAET, or BioSet) don't work.
Combine that with methylation issues, and it is a mess...
I've tried just about everything for allergies, and for me, the best thing has been getting mold out of my house, and essential oil of Copaiba applied on my forehead during the time of year I have my pollen allergies or if I'm exposed to dust/pets...
Nettles taken daily can help if you start them about 4-6 weeks prior to your allergy season.

Thank you! I think my allergies to mold are severe.
Razzle- I have mold under my home but its not the black kind. I still think I'm reacting to the seasonal molds since it has been so wet and humid in NC. I can't live with this every year as it lasts forever! I also cannot tolerate medications for allergies except benadryl. So I'm trying to go the natural route to decrease my sensitivity.

We had several different colored molds growing in the kitchen (behind some shelves, so we didn't see it; but I kept smelling it).
While the mold was still there, I was needing 3 times the recommended Claritin dose to barely control my horrendous hay fever (sneezing, itchy-burning eyes, runny & stuffy nose, itching ears) during tree, grass & weed seasons.
With the mold gone, I am not taking any Claritin. If I do, I get side-effects because the drug has nothing to do in my body...(I've noticed that the more I need an allergy med, the fewer side-effects I get from it).
Thieves essential oil diffused in the house may help kill mold spores in the house. Purification essential oil, or Lemongrass essential oil, also can help with mold when diffused in the home.

Thank you for such great information. I know there must be something bothering me either in the house or from outside. I've heard some interesting things about Thieves oil so I'm going to look it up and of course figure out this mold problem. Thanks again!

- IMO, it's essential to discuss with your LLMD any immune treatments considered. Lyme "flips" the immune system in ways that anyone not LL could never imagine and what they may suggest could be all so very wrong for someone with lyme.
Also search last year's ILADS conference for the MOLD presentation by Lisa Nagy. Get the DVD of her presentation though ILADS. Not a LLMD (in that she does not treat lyme) but still very much LL and she spoke well about mold and allergies, etc. Just Google her name, too, to find her own site. -

Keebler- I agree and I mentioned this to my LLMD and possibly about my inability to detox mold. I'm still waiting to hear back from her about testing. I am allergic to mold and the only advice I've ever been given is to take medications that I cannnot tolerate. So, I'm looking more towards homeopathy as I've heard if anyone has had success. I considered myself close to remission before having a really bad reaction to allergens this fall. I can't live with these allergies the way they are right now.

I have Lyme and am going through NAET currently. I have found it to be completely successful. I've only done foods though. Don't know if it can cure environmental allergies like trees, grass, etc. I would highly recommend it for food allergies.
