Hi - I could REALLY use some suggestions on how to heal my gut. Also, any suggestions for reputable books or websites on this topic.

There is a lot of stuff on the web, but without some guidance, I can't tell what's reputable or not. Like for instance, the GAP diet?

I have major gut problems at this point, I think. In fact, I'm even wondering if the Lyme, etc is gone and if my remaining problems (mostly cognitive, fatigue) are due to this instead.

Lately, I seem to be developing new allergies at an alarming pace. In the past six months, new allergies to shellfish and bactrim have develeoped. And likely more - last week I had a reaction to something and had to give myself an epi pen and call 911 because my throat was closing (late at night with hubby out of town and two little kids asleep - that was not something I want to repeat).

I also have yeast and have had it for some time.

I also have a problem with acid reflux that has come back.

So I really need to stop this downward cycle.

thanks in advance for any help!

I was hit in the gut hard and had a lot of trouble eating anything. Like you, things I could eat before made me sick and my list of foods I could eat kept dwindling.

I found the blood type diet. There is a list of foods that you should avoid that cause inflammation and a list of beneficial foods that heal the gut and boost the immune system.

I did the next generation to the blood type diet, called the Geno type diet. Go to dadamo.com and there is a community there that you can join to learn more as well as lots of information on that website.

I and my husband have been on that diet for 3 years and will never turn back. Our blood work showed that we reduced the inflammation that was making things worse and now I can eat anything on my food list without pain.

I cut out gluten, cow diary (except for Greek yogurt and Keifer), sugar (including fruit and alcohol) and refined and processed foods. This made a huge difference right off the bat.

Beyond that my doctor has me on a plant-based probiotic from Researched Nutritionals as well as a supplement called Yeastinol. I also take a clay before bed to absorb any toxins being thrown off by the Yeastinol. Aloe Vera juice is also great for your gut.

If you can, I would try to work with a holistic nutritionist who can guide you on a 3 week whole food cleanse. By eliminating all of the major allergens for three weeks and then adding them back slowly, you'll really be able to tell what you're body can and can't tolerate. He or she can also steer you toward anti inflammatory and immune boosting foods. It will be life changing!

If you treat your parasites, your allergies should go away! Sounds crazy but do some research and you will see it's true.
