So after 2 weeks of treating my candida issues, I will be starting Monocycline and Malarone.

Has anyone ever been on these medications??

I've read some not great stuff about Malarone. Thoughts?? (I know I shouldn't put myself through that and just scare myself)

Being on a strict diet with my candida issue. What are some good things to eat while taking these meds? Because of course I can't have crackers or toast [Frown]

Any thoughts on a protein shake for one of my meals? My brother found a no carbs or sugar protein shake..

Thanks!

I think you need to avoid dairy when taking any of the tetracycline family.

Malarone should be taken along with some fats to absorb better.

challenging combo

Hey Ook,

Mino is best absorbed on an empty stomach. It is easy to take on an empty stomach.

Won't make you feel nauseated.

Beware mino may have side effects. (not to be confused with a herx...be sure to read the info sheet from the pharmacist)

I noticed about 3 days after starting mino I would get the twitches. I think it was a herx. About 40% of mino crosses into the BBB.

So it's a gooder for neurolyme.

Protein shakes...my favorite is a brand called "About time"

They do a banana flavour that is really good.

Sweetend with stevia. Shortest list of ingredients one will ever see on a protein powder.

Bunch of other flavours. The peaches and cream tasted like plain whey-it was disappointing.

The mocha mint is tasty also.

You can go into the sun on minocycline is one advantage.

The leader of my Lyme support group felt great on it.

A disadvantage is it can cause severe vertigo. It would make me have to lay on the floor and I couldn't get up.

A week after taking it, my face swelled up because I was allergic to it. I'm fine with doxycycline though.

It effects the central nervous system.

It can cause Lupus and made my friend's lips turn blue.

Not everything is a herx from it, so monitor your symptoms.
