Hi all! I was doing fairly well for awhile. I had energy some days and my clarity was greatly improved. I thought I was on the road to recovery with doxy, Bactrim and supplements.

The past month or so, I've felt horrible. I'm nauseous, very high anxiety, bad back pain, fatigue and general achy muscles along with an odd feeling in my head (if that makes any sense).

I just saw my LLMD and he told me my T3 is on the low side and gave me armour thyroid. He also took me off the antibiotics and gave me tindamax which I will start on Tuesday.

Here is my question. Can my dysfunctional thyroid be causing the increase in symptoms or is this just another typical "two steps forward, one step back" lyme flare or progression.

Anyone that has gone through this, any advice or experience is appreciated.

I feel like I'm slipping back to not functioning and am praying this is only temporary and that I'm not losing my mind.

Truthfully I'd be grateful to blame my thyroid and see improvement. :-)

That happened to me. My thyroid was fine at the beginning of treatment. Then after a year, I became hypothyroid.

When I went on thyroid meds, I noticed an improvement. I wasn't healed, but it was one piece of the puzzle...one of those 16 nails in the foot that Dr H mentions.

Now, I know my thyroid levels are off again based on recent labs. I am hoping a dose change will help me feel a little better.

My thyroid became under active when I got sick before treatment. I was sick for 10 years before treatment.

Now that I am off all abx, still trying to get that under control.

a thyroid that is not functioning correctly will make you more susceptible to infection. The thyroid has a whole lot to do with immune function.

Taking synthroid predisposes you to cancer. There has been a lot of research on this topic.

You can increase thyroid function and do a whole lot for your health overall by supplementing with lugol's iodine. Search "Dr. Bernstein Iodine", he's a doc who has reserched iodine supplementation and helps people to do it.

Iodine can wake up your thyroid and get it working again. Many people get off of thyroid supplement or reduce the amount with iodine supplementation.

There is learning curve to doing it but Bernstein's books will help you through it.

I supplement 3 or 4 times a week with iodine and it helped me immensely including getting rid of fibrocystic breast disese, and benign nodules on my thyroid, a clear indicator of heading down a negative thyroid path.
