I had a tick attached to my neck for several days & never saw it. I felt it but thought it was a skin tag. My bathroom mirrors are in odd places so I didn't see it until I finally made a point of it. It was sorta elongated, like a little worm, & I realized then it wasn't a skin tag & pulled it out. Then it looked like a tick about the size of a small pea, but flat then. Dumb me, I flushed it. Told the doctor who put me on 3 days of Doxy.

I have had to be very careful about abx since having Cdiff for 6 months in 2006-2007. I was bitten, I THINK, back in 2007 & went to an alternative doctor in my state who treated with me with supplements like cats claw, artemisimun, lymestat, etc., as well as the Rife machinie. I never had symptoms. Tomorrow I am going to get a Rife machine treatment.

Given the danger of a recurrence of Cdiff, I am between a rock & a hard place. I can take 30 days of Doxy if I can get my doctor to prescribe it but it does a number on me or I can rely on the Rife machine unless I start getting symptoms.

What to do?

Lots of probiotic with the doxy (2 hours away from the antibiotics). Make sure you take Saccharomyces boulardii along with it. This helps prevent cdiff.

Oh believe me, I know all about that! And I've been taking Florastor (Saccharomyces) for 6 years, ever since I took my last Vancomycin pill for the Cdiff in 6/07!

I took the 3 days of Doxy that my local doctor prescribed but I am wondering at what point I should be tested?

I am also considering getting in touch with the naturopathic doctor who had me on herbals last time around.

The only thing about this new bite? What bad guys was it injecting into you? Rifing for lyme is a given.

But what other co-infections could you be infected with. That's where it gets tricky with rife treatments and co-infections.

Seeing NP maybe they can help you clean up many at one time.

Ok, here may be a solution...

400 mg doxy daily for minimum 6 weeks...

Tinidazole or flagyl, which kills c.diff AND lforms and cystic forms of lyme. (for 6 weeks with the doxy)

Obviously the florastor and billions of mixed culture probiotics daily...

And if you can't do that, then maybe buhners protocol and rifing together.

GretaM might be on to something if tindazole will kill cdiff. I don't have any experience with it.

I would just add that if you can start immediately, like a couple of days after removing the tick, a couple of weeks should take care of anything those meds are effective against.

If you wait a couple of weeks 'to see if symptoms develop' you'd need to be on them for a long time. Like 4 weeks. Or maybe a year.

Good luck!

Tinidazole is similar to Metronidazole (Flagyl) but is not Flagyl. It has a similar mechanism of action & similar side effects but not quite as bad. I was on Flagyl for 6 weeks for Cdiff. I need to check into this. Thanks!

Don't get tested until 6 wks go by. However, your Lyme test will likely always be positive because you've had it before.

The ELISA is worthless, so pass on that one. Go with Igenex Western Blot.

Good luck and WELCOME!!! [Smile]

PS.. three days of doxy will do nothing
