So not sure if I am just so used to pain.. That I don't think this is a big deal, or even a Herx. I started azythromycin 2 weeks ago after a 10 month break from abx. Prior to that I had done 18 months straight.
4 days in I had two days where I had increased muscle pain and a sort of feverish feeling that i thought was a mild herx. Then I felt better. 2 days later I had 3 days where I was agitated and teary.
I have a few bruises from self massage.
And just last night I developed breast bone pain. Something I have not had since I first started trying to figure out what was wrong with me 20 years ago.
I had been having symptoms, which is why I went back on abx, but the bruising, breast pain and feverish feeling is new since the zyth... But nothing like how I felt 2 years ago when I first took it.
Is this a mild Herx? Any other thoughts?

I can relate to the breastbone pain.
And the fevery feeling.
I think we are used to pain...most non-lyme folks would be floored if they had even half our daily pain.

Fourth day is classic for herxing. Sounds like babesia symptoms.
Can you throw in some artemisinin?

I have some GSE with arteminisin in it... Bought it by mistake on vacation last year... It also has echinacea in it though... Think that would be ok?
It's 125 GSE 200 Art Annua 200 echinacea
Was waiting to add GSE back in till I had some die off...
My Llmd never really thought I had babs symptoms. But who really knows...

Kudz, we seem to be in the same place. I went back on some antibiotics about 4 weeks ago? After being off 7-8 months,
previously treated 18 months with very aggressive combo's. Worked on parasites in- between, took herbs.
I quit the antibiotics (Bactrim and flagyl) today. Can't do it again right now. My gut seems to be a hot mess,
and neuro herxes were too much. Not all the time, but when they came, depression and anxiety.
Back to try and fix the gut. Maybe get radical about it.

Hi surprise, sorry to hear your gut protested. I am just doing the zyth and so far the bad is not outweighing the good. Headaches, are gone again. But I get you totally. The thought of adding more stuff with unknown symptoms has me wondering ... How long?
It's wierd, cause it seems each Herx symptom is happening separately, 2 days at a time, with a day or two good inbetween. 2 years ago I was totally down and out for 3 months. Maybe I'm healthier, maybe I'm detoxing better. Maybe I've given up ever feeling pain free.
(But have to say woke up this morning about as pain free as I have ever been, walked down the steps before I realized I was not using the railing to keep weight off my feet )
My Chest bone pain is all bit gone (for today) is that called costochondrotis ? Tutu, did you think I meant chest pain? Is that why you thought babs? I will have to do some research on Artiminisin.
No one has ever thought babs for me, but early on before Dx 20 years ago, I had all the symptoms (of everything, babs, Bart, Lyme,)
Any way. Long winded to say, so far, not as bad as I was prepared for. Cautiously optimistic.

My kids are sick right now (tail end) think I'm fighting it, have a very low grade fever- unusual for me. They've had fevers.
I am trying to figure out how to do a gut fixing diet GF, and lower fat (gallbladder) and not lose any weight. By the way, I don't cook. Oh dear. Not excited.
Both my LLMD's didn't think I had babesia, either. I did take babesia drugs: Art, Alinia, Malarone (can't remember what else)
but did not bring out any babesia symptoms, tested negative. Looking forward to Dr. H's new book. Hormones and adrenals might be a player, too.

kudz, yeah I too would have welcomed the weight loss sx. But those that have it are so concerned because they feel like they aren't just skinny.
Some are afraid of wasting away and death. I've got 20 lbs that I've yoyo'd back and forth with for years.
I have 2 sets of clothes. My big girl and my oh I wish I could be this size forever clothes.
Is the breast bone pain in the sternum? Feels like a elephant is sitting on that one bone.
I've also had herxes where the entire rib area from front to back feels like someone took a bat to me. The bone/sternum pain in the early years lasted about 4 yrs, then disappeared until about 6 mths ago. About the same time strange bruising started appearing all over my torso.
Every few days sounds like babs.

Yes, I am not sure what is worse...gaining weight from lyme, or losing weight from lyme.
I think both are equally bad. Either way, other non-lyme folks will judge.
The great thing about lyme folks...they accept everyone just the way they are.
How's the sternum pain today? The elephant description from the last poster was GREAT to describe it

Lyme skinny is not attractive.
And, it is scary, when your body wants calories, and you can't give it all it wants.
The other side of the fence always looks good sometimes, right?

How can anyone casually decide that someone's symptoms are due to Babesia, without knowing the patient's full medical history?

Surprise, Map, Greta, I really, truly didn't mean to make light of the other side of weight problems with or without Lyme. I can see how scary it becomes when you just can't get the calories you need.
My reaction comes from years of comments like...when I was dx'd with Crohn's many years ago, my mothers response was, "you cant have Crohn's, you're fat!"
My sternum is better. My pain does not come with pressure like an elephant... More like a bunch of pointy fingers bruising me. It's very much like the fascia/connective tissue pain knots you get with "fibromyalgia." This time it does not hurt when I breathe but it does if I lightly touch it.
I did have that elephant like pain early on... And down my arm. That made me go get an EKG. That's when I got my fibro Dx.

Well I spoke too soon... Little herxes no more. Today one big everything hurts, feverish feeling, chills, fast stabbing pains in neck and head and only a 99.2 temp. I feel a lot sicker than that. Maybe it will be short lived. Luckily I have a few days off.
Maybe I'm just normal people sick.
FYI, didn't try anything new. No GSE no Art.

Uhhg ... Today's symptom...Vertigo. It's like this time around, it's taunting me with brief bursts of things that plagued me for years.
10 years ago I lived with room spinning vertigo for 5 weeks that the ENT said would settle with time... til I demanded they fit me in for diagnostics. The technician said I know what's wrong with you and can fix it. She did the epley maneuver, slapped a collar on me and I was no longer dizzy.
Don't you think that would be the first thing they would have tried with someone who couldn't drive... Couldn't get to work...couldn't leave the house? The medical system confounds me.
Any way, so far just a really bad spin woth cold sweat on waking up. Wonder what tomorrow brings?

Is the vertigo making you nauseated also? Are you able to keep food and liquids down?
I am so sorry you are feeling so terrible today.
Today was set to be a busy one; I am praying you catch relief from the vertigo soon.

Kudz, I'm having the same sort of thing - bursts of symptoms, some of which I haven't had since I first got sick.
Relapses are not any fun.

Thank you Greta. Got all the out of house chores done this morning. On the couch now and about to take an Epsom bath. I'll just have to clean tomorrow. Maybe I'll be all better!
Ladycakes, sorry your experiencing this too. Have you started a new protocol.
I checked the side effects for zyth... Hmmm they're the sane as Lyme.
