The last few weeks I cannot even take one step without my hips popping and my knees and ankles cracking. Same thing with my shoulders, elbows and wrists when I move my arms. I just finished bicillin injections for lyme so I'm wondering if this is now the bart coming out?

From the Burrascano Guidelines:

"CLASSIC LYME (Bb infection)-
.
.
· Stiff joints and loud joint crepitus, especially the neck (“Lyme shrug”)." (page 26)

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

The word "crepitus" in the above quote means crackling, popping sound or sensation.

So, this would point to lyme disease as the cause of the cracking.

I agree with TF.

Lyme definitely makes the joints pop and crack.

I don't know you can have loud, cracking joints without having lyme right? I know many who have these issues and don't have lyme.
Sometimes I struggle with the fact that every symptom seems to be correlated with lyme. This isn't directed at you lymeoverwhelmed, just what I'm finding. It makes it hard to know what is lyme and what is not...

That's true but I do think it's related since it just came out all of a sudden after stopping the bicillin injections. My doc wants me to start bactrim now, he said it works on lyme and bart so hopefully it will take care of whatever's left.

As far as I know, bactrim treats only bart and babs. That's what my well-known lyme doctor told me.

Will you be on anything besides bactrim?

When you were on bicillin, were you taking anything else with it? One med by itself will not conquer lyme disease, per Burrascano.

I always do one abx with herbals, my body cannot handle two abx together for some reason. I did the bicillin with samento and knotweed and my c4a went from 20,000 to 2,000! I'll be taking the bactrim with knotweed and curcumin, hopefully it will work well...

When you take 2 antibiotics together is when you will have a herxheimer reaction because now the lyme will be killed in great numbers.

I hope you are not interpreting that as not being able to handle two abx together.

If you have not already done so, read "Combination Therapy" starting on page 12 of the Burrascano Guidelines to see the necessity of this kind of treatment.

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

If you get unbearable herxes, the cause is inability to detoxify. (Your body is not carrying away the dead germs fast enough and they are making you very sick.) This is a common problem with a significant percent of lyme patients.

So, if this is you, you need a doc who knows all the detox tricks and gives them to you. Alka Seltzer Gold, lemons and water, glutathione, etc.

Sorry if you already know all of this.

Cracking, snapping and popping can be caused by inflammation. Lyme and potentially many other illnesses cause inflammation.

When I first started treatment for lyme and babesia my joints started making a lot of noise and hurting a lot more. My LLMD said it was because the toxins created by die-off cause inflammation. Time and again my experience has verified that he is correct in my case.
