Has anyone ever tried craniosacral therapy while being treated for Lyme disease?
Did it help?

It's really a nice therapy. It helps relax you, helps headaches, etc. Calms down your system. I lost my therapist years ago and have not searched for a new one. Be sure to get someone who is experienced.

MannaMe's husband gets it quite often. You could ask her.

It certainly can.

Just be sure it's a method that does NOT suddenly twist neck or spine. That should NEVER be done for someone with lyme.

This is one of the methods that is safe for those with lyme:

UPLEDGER INSTITUTE (just Google and find someone near you trained in this method. Often covered by insurance).

Still, at every appt. restate: no sudden twisting of neck or spine (even if they say it would be light and quick). Be very clear in case it's someone who might stray from this technique.

Likely, they will not be LL so they would not understand the significance or importance -- best if your LLMD could refer you to someone who might be somewhat LL, though, if possible.

I'm too tired to explain it. Sorry. But sudden twisting of neck / spine can cause damage.

With lyme, the spinal column (base of neck, bottom of brain) so seriously affected in so many ways. I just have to stop with that.

An UPLEDGER trained doctor or PT would not do this, though, if sticking to that method. Within that, cranial sacral can be very helpful.

Don't be sorry. I wish I could answer. My brain and retrieval stuff only works for some things, not others. And when I'm out of steam, all hampsters stop manning the wheels in my brain so even if I know why, I can't explain it.

Hopefully, others can shine some light. All the area lyme support groups around - ask their leaders for suggestions of who works well in this area.

That's awesome Ellen! Happy for you. I've heard some people say that some emotions come to the surface during this technique also…

It feels good, it's relaxing and can help with cranial pain but it's an adjunct therapy not a cure.

Craniosacral is VERY GENTLE. There should be no worries about sudden jerking or twisting.

It depends on who does it. I had some terrible craniosacral treatments that caused damage from sudden twisting of my neck. That's why it's vital to explore the method / technique that will be used.

I did not know this then. The way it's done can vary widely and there are different methods.

Upledger is one technique that is safe for those with lyme. Still conversation beforehand with therapist / doctor is important.

The therapist must have been very GREEN, then.

I can have craniosacral done today and it is helpful.

Many years ago when I was a walking talking toxin of every toxic matter including abx.....craniosacral work on me was horrific.

During those years it stirred up my brain fog and neuro symptoms so bad, and I finally realized this was not the right time or treatment for me.

Could it have been the therapist I was using? Possibly. But I switched to Lymph Drainage body work on a heavy duty schedule.

It took months of regular work and detox protocols, and lymph work to get the toxic matter moving from my body.

I believe everyone is different in symptoms and treatments. Certainly therapists are all different. Just be sure to be very aware of how your body is reacting.

You can't base your experience just on one or two treatments. It might take longer for you to see improvement or find this un-favorable in this time and place.

I hope that makes sense. This is just my experience over years and years and finally learning to read my body's cry for help.

Pam

I have had cranio sacral therapy done by many practitioners and there are different schools of this modality. I have tried a few of them. I have never had my neck moved around and it has never been anything but gentle.

It's always best to ask a lot of questions but if it's not gentle than that's not the norm.

We are fortunate that we have s craniosacral therapy PT nearby. We all really need to get back to her. She is wonderful. She had/has LD so she totally gets it.

Craniosacral is (and should be) a very gentle therapy.
