I've been sick for four years and am being tested for MTHFR now. I'd appreciate your stories of treatment, knowledge of MTHFR and outcomes. Thank you.

I take Methyl Protect by Xygomen. Works wonders to lower Homocysetein (sp) levels and also takes away the neuropathy in my face and decrease my migraine auras.

methyl folate and methyl B-12. I don't know if it's working.

I am taking Neuroimmune Stabilizer Cream by Neuro Biologix (you rub on forearms twice a day) as well as Hydroxy B12 (Perque Activated B12 Guard).

I can't say whether they have made much of a difference in the way I feel, but my homocysteine levels have come down to just slightly high now.

I do as well.

Haven't noticed symptom improvement.

Or energy improvement, but I do notice that I don't feel nauseated when I take my B Vits.

I am treating my MFTHR and other methylation detox SNP DNA mutations. Like Sandusky Ohio post above I have been sick for a long time, had extensive treatment with No real improvement. NOW that I am doing MFTHR protocol from a ND out of Bethel Maine you can find out more if you go on Google or YouTube Google Methylation Cycle or MFTHR. I am doing program very slowly because I have a HUGE heavy metal issue, and when I began program and opened up my methylation cycle for the first time probably since I was born --- major detox occurred and excreted metals!!!! Not provoked by anything other than opening up my body to beable to detox. I would get your 23andme DNA Snp testing also because there are other factors in play concerning your detox issues. Work with your doctor also to help you thru testing it can be done thru Doctors Data also. Good Luck to you

MTHFR gene defect impacts BH4 - read carefully:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydrobiopterin_deficiency

http://www.metametrix.com/test-menu/profiles/vitamins/neopterin-biopterin

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12003349

We know neopterin levels are way up in lyme...triggered by interferon gamma. It is correlated with "metabolic syndrome" - "fatty liver" and insulin resistance (ultimately).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neopterin go to that link – see lyme listed?

Neopterin and biopterin are by-products of the redox reactions involving tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4).

BH4 functions as a cofactor for the enzymes responsible for the production of monoamine neurotransmitters (ephinepherine, norepinephrine, DOPA, serotonin),
and
as a cofactor in nitric oxide (NO) production.

Nitric oxide (NO) – BH4 is a co-factor of NO production - reacts rapidly with superoxide, producing peroxynitrite.

…peroxynitrite, an inflammatory oxidant that ***further degrades BH4*** and
perpetuates a state of inflammation.

BH4 deficiency -> increased phenylalanine (artificial sugars not a good idea).

Infected macrophages releasing Interferon gamma trigger ongoing inflammation -> persistence of infection.

Get inflammation down AND hit Bb directly.

Berberine MIGHT be doing both. Berberine impacts interferon gamma:
