I was on doxy, and the drug interaction checker says that minerals (namely magnesium and calcium) block the absorption of the doxy. So I've been taking all my magnesium at other times of the day.
Which is annoying. LOL But worth it.
I just checked the same drug checker for ceftin and magnesium and it says no interactions!
I can't find anywhere online that makes any correlation to ceftin and minerals causing a problem.
Can I finally take all of them together? B/c I don't like taking the magnesium other times during the day b/c I have to eat with the magnesium... and to spread it out throughout the day (900mg) it's hard when I can't have it with breakfast and dinner.
Thanks

What other drugs could interact with Ceftin?
There may be an interaction between cefuroxime axetil and any of the following: •antacids (e.g., aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide) •ethacrynic aicd •furosemide •medications that reduce the acidity of the stomach (e.g., ranitidine, famotidine) •typhoid vaccine

Thanks! I'm not taking magnesium hydroxide - but close enough.
I ended up asking my cousin (who is a pharmacist) and also said I should not take them together either. So, ah well... back to taking them other times during the day. :-)

Calcium. Magnesium. Iron. Multi's with any of the above.
All are not good to take with abx.
I am with you Sparkly! Between the abx, the supplements and the probiotics...every 2 hours I'm popping something!

And all the food I have to eat with them... I'm used to grazing and tiny meals throughout the day.
Now I'm eating larger meals b/c of my antibiotics - I'm not used to that. Plus trying to break of all that magnesium throughout the day without being near breakfast or dinner. UGGGGG. lol
