Definitely hits yeast. Not sure about lyme. But have read that bacteria cannot develop resistance to oregano. It is a good antimicrobial in general.

What doses are normal? I took two doses of 5 drops today, diluted in olive oil and water (drink).

I take 1 Oregaresp at night for yeast. It's strong. When I take it, it knocks me out.

I have used oregano by putting drops in a capsule with 8 to 10 drops of olive oil as dispersant. The idea behind the dispersent is to hide some of the flavor of the oregano even from the gut, since a burp can really be strong. And to make it cover more area without making you too sensitive.
I start with one drop of a good oregano oil like the P73 Mediterranean source, or Young's Living essential oregano oil, and dilute with the olive oil drops for dispersion and then swallow this home made capsule.
It does go down much easier in the capsule without any taste, unless you happen to dribble some on the outside of the capsule when dripping it in. That can be nasty if that happens and you don't see it.
It really is pretty potent, especially once you work up to a few more drops. I know it's doing something the times I have to use it because I get some much gas from the die-off.
I have a friend who claims he's cured of lyme after using Young's Living Oregano essential oil in capsuls for a number of months. His oregano treatment was followed up with a miracle. He desperately prayed that God heal him for the mission field, and within days his symptoms left him. He continues to be in remission as far as I know-it's been 2 or three years.
I have wondered if the oregano whittled away at the infection for many months and then in answer to his desperate prayer, God decided to wipe most of the rest away.
Sorry, for the diversion. I would start like normal-low and slow. Oregano herxes (since it hits more than one thing) can be somewhat strong, too. I remember the first time I used Oregano Oil in capsules, I had an immediate herx within the hour. On the couch, flu-like, and moaning.

lax mom,
Do you mean it puts you to sleep? Maybe I should try that.

Oil of Oregano is also an antibiotic oil as well as an anti fungal. It is usually used with Thieves and Frankincense when it is used in an antibiotic regimen.

I have tried it in the regimen Faithful mentioned.
I put the oils together in gelatin capsules and took 2 every 4 hours during the week of my period (lyme flare time), for the first 4 months I was treating lyme.
I didn't notice anything health-wise either way. But I did notice that my breath, sweat and skin smelled of the oils, even a few hours after taking it.
People around me could smell it also.
So I do know that it permeated into my body.
I like to rub diluted Thieve's Oil on my body nightly, as well as gargle with a few drops of oregano oil when my tonsils bug me. It works great as a gargle.

TNT: yes, it puts me to sleep. I'm assuming it's from the die off. I tend to hibernate when my body is killing the bugs.

Dr Clarke's Store oil of oregano is very strong stuff and I always keep some handy. I also take it with me if I am going away, as I think it is useful if you are worried about something you have eaten.
Sometimes I use it every day for about ten days to beat down general levels of bacteria and as part of rotating candida treatments.
Greta is right: it does seem to permeate throughout and you can smell it and taste it......this is quite pleasant, I think. Unless you have bought one that is already heavily diluted in olive oil, you need to protect yourself: I find that three drops in a teaspoonful of olive oil is good, or the same dose in a small glass of dairy-free milk, with a water chaser. It also works well as three drops dribbled onto a bread with some olive oil.
You can buy it in capsule form and that may suit some people, but I feel that, unencapsulated, it is treating your mouth, throat and oesophagus too (so long as you dilute it properly).
I am not sure that it directly affects the Lyme bacteria, but does hit many other things.

I don't know if it hits Lyme or not, but it may hit other coinfections...
And I know Oregano and many other similar herbs disrupt quorum sensing in many bacterial species, thus preventing biofilm formation...

I took ADP (2 caps, 2X a day). It's oregano oil made into tablets.
I did this for several months. I was even taking it when I was reinfected with Lyme. It didn't really help, so I can't say it hit Lyme at all..
My new Lyme doc said for me to stop taking it and switched to nystatin. That worked better for me for yeast.
