my little 2 yr old girl developed a kind of puffy rash - oval like over her whole knee. It was red and puffy and we went to the ER. I'm petrified of Lyme - it was solid, not Bull's eye. It's winter here but there is a chance it could have been passed through me...
I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd like to give her ABX for a long time. The MD said it may be cellulitis and prescribed Augmentin 400 mg BID. For those of you with little kids- is this the right Antibiotic and dose to cover LYme? How long should I give it just to be safe -a month? I'd rather be safe than sorry....based on my awful experience. Please, I would so appreciate any advice. Thanks !

Take a pic just in case.
My son was on Amoxicillin for 4 mos when he was 2 yrs old. He also took children's Theralac. Augmentin is stronger since it's Amox plus something for resistant strains (or something like that). So, I would think that would be a good antibiotic.
As far as how long? I don't know as far as a prophylactic. My son needed 4 months, but he had active Lyme with autism traits/sore knees and frequent infections.
You can improve blood circulation to help this heal by doing hot compresses.
If you have a machine to do farinfrared light treatments or pulsed magnetic energy, those would help reduce inflammation and speed healing.
If this doesn't improve and gets worse, take her back to your doc.
Lax mom suggested you take a picture. This can be important for later comparison, in case it gets worse.
